My step-FIL is bothered by Mass when it is "entertaining" he wants more a return to the pre-Vatican II Mass, which from this board I get is out there, but it isn't around here. Anyway, so this leaves me thinking, do you like it when your priest is funny during the homily, or do you think it is inappropriate? Or is yours never funny?
He has been known to be but it is quite rare. He usually makes his silly comments before Mass starts or when he's making announcements before it ends, but it's not every week.
My parents have a new younger priest (he's around 40, ours is about 70) who tends to be quite funny.
I don't mind any funny comments, but as I said it's rare during the homily.
I like humorous priests a lot. Those tend to be my favorites. My favorite priest is HILARIOUS but he can also be very serious and solemn at times. He can have you roaring with laughter as well as crying in the same few minutes.
