When you've had babies did you pray during labor?

Of course! Usually along the lines of: "God, I can't do this anymore! MAKE IT STOP!" But I've always had my Rosary CD on during labour before and I prayed along in between contractions.

With my first I did - it was a very long, hard, stressful labor. With my second and third - to be honest, no. With both I was in denial that I was in real labor - things moved so quickly. I think if I had prayed to help me get through I would have been acknowledging that I was actually in labor and that was something I would not do. With Elias I prayed right as he was being born because all of a sudden it hit me that not only had I been in labor but now he was being born at home on our bathroom floor!! With Jude, when I finally recognized that I had been in labor I only had time to pray that I could get into the tub in time and give birth in the parkinglot of the birth center!

To be perfectly honest, I didn't pray very often for many, many years before DD was born. Once she was born I came back to my religion and started praying again. Kind of like she showed me the way home.

For me I don't think I've ever been coherent enough in my thought to pray before this labor. My thoughts have been too inward and in that moment and focused on just me to think of anything outside of me. I realize God is within us as well, but not that far into thought. However, in this one, I prayed, I thought to myself it was kind of weird I hadn't prayed before. I may have in all my labors too, and not remember it. I actually know I did with Amber, on the way to the hospital, a like "Please let them admit me" prayer though.
