Were your kids Baptized in a private ceremony or at Mass?

Neither? Our parish does a 'ceremony' on Saturday afternoons where there are 10-15 babies Baptised at once. It's not a Mass. Now, my oldest, she was baptised in a Cathedral we used to attend back then, and it wasn't a Mass either.

But DH's Polish parish he used to attend when he lived at home, it's always Sunday and always a Mass.

I haven't thought about that, I need to since our LO will be here in less than 20 weeks. Liam was baptized in a private ceremony but we belonged to a different parish then. I think we'll probably do the same for this LO.

We've done it both ways. I prefer to do it within Mass though (and I love witnessing other Baptisms at Mass too!). I think it helps build community in our parish and it's nice to have all those prayers from everybody!

Our 4 kids were baptized the same day, after a Sunday Mass. My God-son was baptized during a mass, and I thought that was very special....and good for the congregation to have it explained in detail why it's so important. Anyhow, for this baby, we will likely be doing a ceremony after a daily Mass. We're asking our priest to do the extraordinary rite, and kinda hoping the timing will make sense to do it on a Saturday morning following Mass. He said he'd do it whenever we're ready, so we'll line it all up after the baby is born.

All our others were baptized in a special ceremony. I've thought about requesting it be done during Mass, but we go to Mass at a parish full of older folks who complain if they are kept any longer than the "allowed" 45 minutes.

Both my girls were baptized during a Sunday mass. I love that the entire community was present to welcome them and to pray for them as well. My girls are beyond excited when a baby is baptized during Mass because they love that they can "pass it forward." I love that they know others did it for them and they are happy to do it for others.

4-5 M-I-N-U-T-E-S????? Oh my wow! If Mass was EVER 45 minutes I'd die of shock right then and there...like we're lucky if it is 60...75 is more the norm.

Our babies are baptized after Mass - whoever wants to stay for it can but it isn't during Mass.
