Conference. I am always curious to hear what other moms do for their kids during conference. I would love to sit here and tell you all that I have found a way to have my children all sit quietly during conference and mentally be taking notes on all the things the prophets say...but not! I have always had to try to find activities so the kids would keep quiet and happy. My best thing so far has been jigsaw puzzles. I get harder ones for us olders and simpler ones for the youngers and everything inbetween. My kids have come to LOVE this tradition. We turn on the tv full blast, put extra leaves in the table and pull out the puzzles. It works for us.
I really like the puzzle idea. I haven't really been a stickler for my boys to sit and watch conference. This weekend though, I plan to require them to sit still and pay attention to one talk from each session that I watch. And then, I think I'll let them do puzzles, since that is such a great idea.
Our only problem is that since we got rid of cable, we will have to watch it on the computer. I hope our speakers are loud enough!
We do crafts. No one here can sit still so I try to have them do things that are quiet but productive. This time, it's looking like boondoggle, crochet and maybe coloring picture frames. The best part is that when they're done, they can give them to friends for Christmas. I'm always surprised to find out that they actually do listen.
