New Calling

So I finally got a calling in my new ward!

It was really funny, because they were holding off because I was 7 1/2 months pregnant when we moved in, and then with a new baby they didn't want to overload me. So a couple weeks ago I said "Okay, Lord, I think I'm ready for a calling now."

So he made me Nursery Leader.

Apparently the bishop had been "feeling very strongly about it for quite a while."

I'm not quite sure what we're doing with Allison, and I'm a little nervous, but I do think it'll be really good for Patrick.

Wow. I hope that you have a great time. We were put in as primary teachers when I was 8 months pregnant and I love it. Have fun!

Because I am so new I haven't been given a calling, but someday I would like one. I probably need to learn more though. Honestly, I wouldn't mind the nursery, I used to work for a Presbyterian church and I ran the nursery for 5 years. I would like to make some changes in our nursery if possible... I don't understand why they don't change or feed the babies for the parents. These children are in the nursery for 2hrs and if they need to be changed or fed the staff comes and gets the parents. It's silly to me because I did all of that for the parents when I cared for the babies. Maybe there is a reason I am not aware of.

I love being in the nursery! Sounds like a good calling.

Kody, that's odd that they don't feed the kids in your ward...I thought there was always snack time in nursery...2 hours seems too long for most kids to go without a snack. I didn't change kids' diapers as a nursery leader though, and I honestly wouldn't want to.

We have a snack time, and the ward reimburses for the snacks too. We play for an hour, have a snack (today it was pretzels, oranges, and animal crackers), and then do a lesson. Your ward should have a snack time, Kody.

I don't want to change kids' diapers either. Maybe if I was PAID to run the nursery, but not on a volunteer basis and when it's only for 2 hours. Not only that, it's hard enough to remember whose shoes are whose, let alone diapers and that sort of stuff. It's never been a big deal for them to bring me my kids when they need changing.
