Hi! I am an event planner for Bay Area Autism Group in SE Texas. I am in charge of planning parties and such during different times of the year that are open to all religions. I am not a member of the LDS and don't know the ins and outs of LDS.

What types of celebrations do you have? Would you allow your children to attend a Winter themed party?

Leslie

I think you are thinking of Jehovah's Witnesses. They don't do certain celebrations. LDS people (Mormons) celebrate all the typical holidays. Some don't celebrate Halloween, but that's a personal thing (we even often have Halloween parties at church!).

Ditto to Heather. As members of the LDS church we celebrate holidays. I am very excited about Halloween. Good luck planning your winter festival! It sounds like it will be fun!

Do you celebrate Christmas with Santa and such? I need to plan a Winter Party that doesn't offend anyone in the Autism group. I am thinking of going with a snow/snowman theme. Thanks for the help.

Most kiddos believe in Santa and even my ward in ID sent a santa around with treats for the kids and pictures. My babies will believe in Santa just like I did growing up in the church.

Yup, we're good with Santa Some LDS people don't do Santa just like some non-LDS Christian people do Santa. Many church Christmas parties include Santa Claus. When it comes to holidays we are seriously just like everyone else. We celebrate the secular and the religious
