Do you have family home evening every week?

I find it really hard to do because of having such a small family. I heard something in RS yesterday that really made sense to me.

"I don't find it hard to not do bad things, I find it hard to do all of the good things we have been told to do." I need to work on that.

That's a profound statement. We usually do FHE. We haven't in two weeks since the flu has been going around all of us.

We do it probably like 2 or 3 times a month. I also find it difficult with such young children...it didn't seem like Victor was getting anything out of it but I realized it doesn't have to be long. We usually do like a 1-2 minute lesson and then sing songs and play for like 15 minutes. Victor seems to really appreciate the extra attention of both his parents being involved with him.

We are terrible about it! My DH has worked Monday nights/evening for yrs. We have family nights when we can. We usually do activities. I Homeschool and use as Christian curriculum. That has led to very interesting discussions about the bible and people interpretating it for their own agenda and how to spot it and look up references. So we aren't very traditional in our FHE. I'm typically totally exhausted from teaching the kids and doing everything else all day to plan another lesson and gather my kids. Last night we played a new board game I got. Everyone had fun as a family.

I knew a family with a dad who worked nights, so they had FHE on Sunday after church before he went to work. There's no rule that it has to be on Monday or even that it has to be in the evening. There was a talk a few conferences ago by Elder Bednar and he said something about the random discussions with kids about religion are just as important (if not more) than formal FHE.
