I had my 39 week appointment on Wednesday Dec 30th, I had eaten a whole pineapple and was SURE that I was going to have some progress. Dr checked me and NOTHING He was concerned though since it was my 2nd and I had nothing. So he checked again an said his head is not there, I think the baby is breech. So he wanted me at the hospital the next morning at 8am to do a NST scan, a Ultra Sound for position and was going to do a Version (manually try flipping the baby if he was breech)

I was starting to have cramping more and more as the night progressed. I fell asleep at 10ish and was up at 1am with alot stronger contractions. I took a bath, tried to go to bed, took a shower tried everything couldn't fall asleep. Finally at 4 am I gave up and told Kevin that he wasn't going to workand that he needed to take me to the hospital. We opted to wait a little at home first and since we had a 8am appointment with our dr, we would just wait for that.

Got to the hospital and registered, went up to L&D they got me all set up for the NST. I was having contrations showing up on the paper. Dr did a Ultra Sound and sure enough he was breech : ( Dr said to stick around the hospital and walk to get some more progress going and he was coming back at noon to do the verision. Kevin and I walked the halls and decided that if he was breech we were having a c-section. At this point in time we weren't sure if the baby would be coming that day or if we would be sent home, since my contractions were spaced pretty far apart.

At noon the dr came in, and they straped me to the table. He performed the Version and let me tell you it HURT. But I stayed strong for the sake of my baby, I was bawling, Kevin was bawling and just had a hold of me so tight telling me he loved me (he is so not like that) Dr got the baby to move maybe 2 inches but he would go right back. What felt like hours he finally gave up and said I had 2 options, a breech birth or a c-section. We sat in the room crying for 10 minutes making up our decision, it was so hard and is a moment we will never forget. For some reason both of our minds changed and we wanted to try the beech birth, dr said if it was Franks Breech we should have no problem, but he wanted us to get a in depth size ultra sound and x-rays to get EXACT position and size of baby... baby would of had to be between 6 1/2 and 7 1/2 lbs. We still weren't sure if we were having this baby soon. Dr then asked me, what kind of progress did you have yesterday? I said none, and he was like well I am going to check you since you are contracting and see what you are at. Well he checked me and his face went white, he said there is a foot in your birth canal. You are having a c-section ASAP. This is when Kevin completely lost it!!

He was hysterical, wouldn't let go of me. Said he couldn't go in with me, that he was going to pass out. I held on to him and told him I needed him, he was so scared. Our nurse we had was great and calmed him down enough that they would even let him go in. The got me all prepped and took me into the OR.

It took them 2 times to do the spinal, and finally I was completely numb. They let Kevin come in and he just sat up at my head and just stared at me, I smiled the whole time. C-Section went perfectly, Harrison was born at 2:45 pm peeing as he entered the world (all over the dr) daddy didn't pass out and got to cut his cord and hold him first. He weight 7lbs 2oz and was 18.5 inches long. He has a full head of dark hair, navy blue eyes and the longest eye lashes ever. His left foot was "sideways" when they pulled him out because it was stuck in the birthcanal. Dr said it would fix itself. They gave me a shot of something in my iv and i was out cold.

I woke up in recovery to the worst pain ever, i stayed in there for 2 hours. I didn't see a end in sight and I guess I told my parents I could take the pain any more. I felt like no one was listening to me and the moraphine was a joke. Finally the pain got better and I was able to go back to my room. Finally got to hold my baby!! I had the last baby of the New Year at the hospital!!! He is perfect in every way, and has brought me and daddy closer than ever before. He has renewed our love for eachother. I am nursing and also formula feeding for now. He is eating like a champ. His foot is completely fixed. He sleeps great!!! Me on the other hand has had some compications due to the c-section but things are getting better. It was completely worth it, to have a healthy baby.

So that is my story of my emergancy New Years eve c-section. I got my 09 baby! Braylon is a great big brother!!! Kevin is a wonderful father and Harrison is perfect. I can't post a picture because my mother got her sd card stuck in my sd card port, i am going to look for my cord later!!! Thanks for reading, and I am sure I missed some parts : )

Wow what a crazy turn of events! It sounds so emotional hearing all the ups and downs of finding out he was breech, then the version, wanting to try to birth vaginally to a quick section! wow! I'm so glad everything turned out okay and you have ahealthy baby boy here! Can't wait for photos! Congrats again!
