Well Wednesday April 28th, I went for my normal routine doctors visit. I was 39 weeks and 4 days as of that day, we did everything routine : weight, blood pressure (was high), internal exam. Then, I got asked my normal questions, am I having headaches, swelling, feeling nauseous or throwing up. I answered yes to them just like any other doctors appointment. Well this time when I answered them the doctor seem very concerned.
So, he sent me down to L&D to get monitored and have some blood work done to test for Pregnancy Induced Hypertension. Well, about 3 hours later after drawing blood the results came back and they weren't too bad, said that my protein was high. So my doctor came down and gave me a ultimatum. He said I could either do a 24 hour urine test, be induced in the morning, or have a c-section. But, he also explained to me that if he did in fact induce me that I had a 60% chance of ending up having a c-section anyways. So, I needed to keep that in mind.
So I decided I was going to go through with the 24 hour urine test. So at 5 p.m on the same Wednesday I started the urine test. Through that night I started having contractions in my back, they were hoping that it would set me into labor. But my dilation never moved from a 1.8. So the whole next day I just continued to collect my urine, my urine test stopped at 5 p.m that Thursday, they said it would take up to four hours for the results to come back.
Well, finally I got done with the 24 hour urine test and got to wait for the results, it came back that I did have the Pregnancy Induced Hypertension. So now, it was time for me to make a decision on what I wanted to do. So, they had a ultrasound technician come in and do a growth scan to see how exactly big the baby was since I was measuring big. I had my ultrasound done and it showed that my little man was 8lbs & 11 ounces. Well, when they did the ultrasound they also found out there was some damage being done to my placenta because of the PIH, it was taking its toll on the placenta fast. So, I decided to go ahead with the c-section.
At 5 a.m I was woke up on April 30th, to start getting prepped for my c-section. They started me on my ivs and started me on magnesium sulfate. At 8 a.m I went in for my c-section. They did the spinal tap with no problems and got me ready. I did end up vomiting throughout the c-section from the Morphine shot they gave me in my back to numb me for the Spinal. But, my little man was born at 8:14 healthy as could be! He was 7lbs & 15 ounces. The sonogram was VERY off!
I was in the hospital until Sunday May 2nd, but the stay wasn't too bad. We had alot of people come visit which was overwhelming, but everything was great. Ayden is a very good baby, never cries unless he is hungry or needs changed. Im so very lucky that we found out about the PIH before anything bad could happen, it could of been found out sooner but everything turned out perfectly fine.
Here is one of my little mans first pictures:
