So I apologize for this being so late! I have been super busy and just trying to get the new role of being a Mommy down!
I was induced on May 11th at 9pm. My Mom flew in that day around 10am, and we got to enjoy a fun mother-daughter day including lunch, getting manicures and some last minute shopping for Avery! Dh dropped my Mom and I off at the hospital around 8:45pm and then he went right to the airport to pick up his Mom. My Mom and I filled out all the paperwork and I was set up in a room.
When I saw the doctors for the first time, they did a check and said I was 0 cm and 0% effaced. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE because for the last 3 weeks, I was 2cm and 70% effaced. It didnt make since. They started me with the cervix softening pill vaginally, and then around 2am on Wednesday (the 12th) they decided to start me on pitocin. I was not dilating at all with pitocin, so they inserted a balloon cathidar, which was inserted into my cervix, and the balloon was blown to 4cm. They said when the balloon cathidar falls out, I would be 4cm and they would then increase the pitocin. Oh and I already had the epidural put in, to prevent me form getting it done when the contractions got too strong. The epidural scared me, it wasnt painful by any means, it was the fact that I could NOT move my legs that scared the living crap out of me. I had them tone down the epi, and then I was able to move and feel the contractions a little, but I could handle it.
Well, HOURS LATER, like around 3pm, the balloon cathidar fell out. Man of man if ya'll could have seen everyones reactions! DH and I were both gagging, (because the mucas plug and blood came out on the balloon cathidar) and both our Mom's are int ehr oom clapping saying "yay!" It was hysterical. So I was then 4cm. They upped the pitocin.I stay at 4cm for many hours, then around 9pm I was finally at 5cm. I fell asleep around midnight and woke p at 3am. I noticed my nurse was in the room when I woke up and I said "I am feeling a strange amount of pressure down there..." I was very calm and just mentioned it out of curiosity. The nurse decided to check me and she said, "Wow, this is surprising!" I asked what she was talking about, and she said "You're ready to push! You're 10cm! The head is almost crowning on its own!"
DH looked at me with an "Oh ****" face and said "Are you ready for this?" I said "Hell no! Are you?" He said no. lol My Mom was in the waiting room, sleeping, so we sent my mother in law out there to get her to let know I was ready to push, and I was told no one has ever seen my mom move that fast in her life. She literally RAN down the halls to get to my room. I had my Mom holding my right leg and my DH holding my left. I was so happy to have my Mom with me, and to see DH being so supportive and strong.
DH was more nervous than anyone, while I was cracking jokes with the nurses the whole time. I was laughing throughout my entire labor, which I will NEVER forget. DH was counting for me, and his counts got louder, and expressed more excitement with each push. He was so cute <3 He said throughout the entire pregnancy he was not going to look, well he watched the whole thing and he is happy he did. I didnt want him to, but oh well lol.
After 1 hour and 22 minutes of pushing, Avery Marie made her entrance into the world, at 4:22am (the same exact time DH was born) on May 13th 2010. When they put her on my belly is when I finally broke down into tears, Iw as so in love, it was so surreal. SHe weighed in at 7lbs 12oz and 21in long. I had a small tear which required stitches inside and out.
She is such a great baby! We could not be luckier! She does NOT cry, at all. Even when she's hungry she just grunts. And She'll let you know when she's unhappy, but just enough to let you know lol. She eats like a champ and is a tooting machine! We are so in love and could not be happier to have her home with us, as a part of our family
