Wednesday, July 28th – contractions started around 8pm. I had them on and off throughout the night. I had been having BH contractions and was wondering if I would know when the real ones started - and there is no mistaken real contractions!
Thursday, July 29th – Woke up crampy. Lost a little bit of pink tinged mucous. Doc appt at 11am, found out I was 4cm and in active labor. Doc told me not to go far – I could either go check into the hospital and walk or go hang out or walk somewhere before going in. Hubby and I went to lunch – dropped DS off with Grandma and went to the mall to walk. Contractions were getting close and painful so we decided to head to the hospital. Checked in at 3pm and was 5cm. I got my epidural at 4:45pm because contractions were painful and I didn’t want to wait too long. They broke my water at 6:30pm in hopes to get things rolling. 7:30pm – I was 6cm. 9:15pm – I was 7cm. Throughout the night, Chase’s heartrate would drop if I changed to my right side so I had to stay on my left side, which made that side very numb. I didn’t care, as long as my baby was ok. I was quite nervous and anxious and just wanted him out by this point. 2:15am - I was 10cm, finally! I was quite numb and had no urge to push yet so we waited a bit, until I started to feel pressure.
Friday, July 30th – 3:15am, 31 hrs after labor had begun, Chase Alexander was born into the world. 9lbs even – 21” long. Doc was right, he was a good size baby! My labors seem to last a long time but with both babies, I didn’t have to push long at all and I am thankful for that.
We came home on Saturday – didn’t see the need to stay 2 nights. My recovery has been great, much easier than with my first. Chase is such an awesome little baby. Sleeps often – wakes up every 2 hours to eat throughout the night. It’s actually my favorite time with him. The house is quiet and dark and it’s just him and I. I hate being pregnant, but he is a reminder of why it’s all worth it.
