Margaret Nicole arrived via c-section on August 5th.
Because I've had 2 previous c-sections we were urged to do a repeat. I would have been allowed to try a natural delivery if I had gone into labor before our predetermined date. We tried all natural methods to get her out, including castor oil and multiple membrane sweeps but she wouldn't budge. When we got to the hospital to check in for my c-section I started having contractions 5 minutes apart (figures right?).
Because I was already prepped and my cervix remained unchanged we went for it and just had the c-section.
Margaret Nicole was born at 8:07 p.m. and weighed 8 lbs 2 oz and was 21 inches long.
She had low blood sugar because I was a gestational diabetic and the neonatologist wanted to give her formula right away. I was still on the operating table arguing with him when he threatened to take her to the baby nursery and put an IV in if I didn't budge. While I was being stitched up, DH took a syringe and gave her tiny bit of formula to keep her out of the nursery. Her blood sugars jumped back to where they were supposed to be, and she latched on the breast soon after I was brought into recovery.
My recovery from the c-section has been easy peasy in comparison to my other two, which is good.
