Any suggestions or what is everyone eating for lunches... I work FT and get 30 min for lunch. Before I would either bring a freezer meal or make a sammich and some chips.. But Im tryin to avoid packaged meals for the sodium and trying to avoid having too much lunchmeats.. But nothing else sounds good to me.. What are you eating for lunch?

I absolutely LOVE when you call sandwiches sammiches. That is soooo funny to me. My granny used to call them sammiches. I thought it was just a Texas thing.
Anyway, do you cook? Maybe you could make an extra serving of whatever you cook for dinner and bring it for lunch the following day. You could also do grilled cheese, low sodium soups, or some of the "diet" frozen dinners. A lot of the Weight Watchers ones are low in sodium.

i just had a yummy salad. Here's what I put in it - romaine lettuce, blueberries, mandarin oranges, canned chicken breast, tomato, a few croutons and Ranch dressing. I cannot believe how good that ranch dressing tasted!!!! I have never had it taste so good Only takes a few minutes to make and you could throw it in a tupperware (a big one if you eat one the size I make lol)

Ugh, lunch is the worst time of day for me. I am so sick feeling in the morning that I can't make/pack anything for lunch and then when lunchtime comes around I don't feel like eating anything....it's quite a pain in the *****!

Do you work at a desk? I can't rememebr what you do. I have a drawer in my desk that I keep stocked with some snack crackers (think ritz and the like) and then I usually buy lunch because if i think it's good in the morning, I won't come lunch time. LOL

I second the salad suggestion. I also like to take a sweet potato - if you have a microwave handy, which it sounds like you do, you can just poke it with a fork a few times, pop it in for 5-6 minutes (I do this in small intervals when there are a lot of people around, like 2-3 minutes at a time, just so it's fair, but some frozen meals take that long too, so maybe I'm just weird LOL) and voila - a "baked" sweet potato! Seriously though, I so agree with that Ranch dressing thing. YUM! I like dried cranberries on my salads and pecans or almonds. I usually tear up a slice or two of turkey if I have it handy or boil some eggs and chunk them up on top.

I've either been bringing leftovers (today is pasta with garlic & oil & a roll & a big salad with green beans, carrots, croutons, raisins, & glazed pecans with some oil & vinegar). I'm lucky that I get an hour & that there are 100 million places nearby that I can just grab pretty much whatever I'm craving.
When I was expecting Allie, grilled cheese & tomato soup was like THE craving that everyone had. I swear it was like a snowball...one person would mention it & we'd all be eating it

I think all of the salads sound really yummy, and if you put some lean protein on top, then that'll keep you full longer. Also, try just making some soups or pastas or casseroles and then portioning them out and bringing them for lunch every day. That's my plan!

ugh for me its been saltines and ginger ale...:/
Nothing sounds good anymore, except that darn sammich you speak of ham and cheese on wheat sounds aaahhmazing right now..ok sorry, I'll focus now
Low sodium soups hit the spot sometimes, with those little oyster crackers in it.
I like those Healthy choice cafe steamers, mainly the sesame or orange chicken ones, ive never checked the sodium on it though..something to look into.
Leftovers are an option, Im not sure how you are with m/s though, sometimes smelling it before its time to eat it will mess with me though.
Cheese and crackers, or PB and crackers have been an old standby when NOTHING else sounds good, not all the healthy but its better than nothing.
What about like a wrap or something, they have those pre-portioned precooked perdue chicken strips at the store, you could put it in a wrap with some veggies and dressing.
Or even a bagel sandwich..I know its more "breakfast" kind of food, but that and a big ole glass of OJ is yummy Or bagel with cream cheese, or heck, make your own "bagel bites" with some sauce and cheese and maybe pepperoni, like pizza on a bagel? lol

Nothing has been really appealing to me lately except peanut butter toast. Which is what I've been having.

I usually take salads, with that imitation crab meat with seafood sauce, yummm, but since we are supposed to limit seafood Ill be boiling eggs for my salad now. I agree with the homemade soups. I do that as well, you can make them quite hearty as well, I pick up a deli made rotisserrie chicken, rip off the meat and just add veggies. Sometimes add ravioli or brown rice! I hate making lunches each day, even before I was pregnant, so if I was making lasagna, I would make 2 and separate the seond one into individual serving containers and freeze them. Same with chili's stews, casseroles... anything like that. You can soon have your freezer looking like a grocery store, only healthier for you!
Ive made individual sheppards pie, putting ground beef in the bottom of a container, adding veggies and gravy, (Homemade so you can make is as fat free as possible) then topped with mashed potatoes! How about wraps? Look online for tons of great ideas for wraps!!
