My sister called me today and they think my niece has the chicken pox. I've been around my niece a lot last week and we were all together last night for Dinner. So if she does in fact have the chicken pox, I've been exposed to them.
I've never had them before, and I don't think im vaccinated. This sucks I called my Ob and he was at the hospital doing a C/S and is on call at the hospital so the receptionist who is very nice said that she will tell him and see what he wants me to do next, maybe get some more blood work and If I start feeling sick I may need to leave my town since there is no hospital where I live. My girls have also never had the chicken pox before.

Ugh, I hope you don't get them. I heard they are more dangerous to have in the first trimester. Hopefully, they just completely stay away.

I think the incubation period is a while before your niece actually shows signs of the chicken pox. Hopefully you will luck out and this will pass you by! When I was pregnant with my son I was at a wedding. A few days later I got a call that my ex's cousins kids both came down with the chicken pox. I had danced with them at the wedding and was scared. But I didn't catch them.

yep you usually have to be around before th epox appear, and the first few days after. so if you missed her during that timeyou are probably okay.
Can you stop in for a blood draw to see if you are immune? it's a pretty simple test.

When I was in Kindergarten and had chicken pox, my mom was pregnant with my brother! She was fine, my grandma came up and bathed me and put my lotion on me and things like that, but I mean, we lived in the same house, and she was fine. However, SHE had had chicken pox before, but still.. my brother was ok.... well, if you want to call an annoying little brother "OK" haha! JUST KIDDING, We love each other!

If your girls aren't vaccinated you may want to send them over to catch it. It's so much safer to have them as a child than as an adult.
As for you, I have no idea. If your OB doesn't get back to you, maybe go to urgent care and get checked out.

My ob wants me to get blood work done to see if I am immune to it or not, So I go in tomorrow afternoon.
my youngest has been pretty crabby all night with a slight fever but it could be due to teething her molars.

They are most dangerous in the first trimester so even if you get them your in the safer zone. Most adults who never had them, its actually pretty hard to get them. It is more severe with adults but its also harder to get-- I have been trying for years! I shared suckers and tons of things....nada.

According to my parents I have never had the chicken pox, neither has my middle sister but my little sister got a nasty case. When we were teenagers the doc decided to titer test us (the test to see if you have antibodies) before vaccinating us. We were both titer positive so we either developed immunity from being around them or we had them and it was a small enough case no one knew. So you may have had them or be immune and just not know it. I think mine was a mild case that no one noticed since I got shingles in Sept!!!
