Are you getting your dr/midwife a gift or card? Does your dr give you a keepsake for baby?

My dr gives baby a onesie that says Lovingly Delivered by Dr. Westerholm. I didn't get her a gift after DD because I figured payment was enough, but I'm thinking of bringing her something from Edible Arrangements to my 6 week appointment since this is our last pregnancy together.

Um... no... but I do plan on baking cookies during early labor. Does that count?

I'm not planning anything right now, but I'll probably try to do a little something for my midwife and assistant after the birth. Even if it's just a meal or to bake something for them. I have no idea if my midwives do anything, at the birth center last time they gave us a placent print, blanket and hat for the baby. I'm using a different home birth midwife this time though.

Nope. I am paying him a billion bucks, lol. He may or may not even be there for the birth anyway.

I did see a cute picture hanging in one of his rooms where the OB, the parents, and whoever was with her in labor all had on shirts that said, "Team Max" for her son. I thought that was cute, lol. But not something I would do.

I won't be doing anything. Its not custom around here and I think he'd think I was a weirdo plus its not a guarantee that he'll be delivering anyway. My OB doesn't directly give a gift but the hospital gave us a onesie that says "Delivered with love at Union Hospital" and a blanket with the hospital name on it. Not sure if they still do that or not.

Not the dr. After DD was born, I made Irish soda bread and brought it to the nurses' station at our 2 day check. I didn't do anything when I had DS, but we were dealing with some health issues for DS, so I kinda forgot. I hope I will have the energy to do something this time around. Maybe if my OB actually delivers this one, I'll do something.

Not a present, but last time I baked TONS of cookies and treats and took them to the hospital for all the nurses that were helping us. Then after my delivery and when I woke up from all the extra stuff my dr came to check on me. It was like 5 in he morning and she had stayed all night to make sure my bleeding stopped and that I was okay. I told her about the cookies and she was soo excited. We sat and talked while she ate cookies. I am going to try and bring a bunch again.

I hadn't planned on doing anything but I like the idea of baking cookies for the nurses. I might do cookies or brownies for the nurses and my doc.

Nope, I've never received anything from any of them, and if it weren't for this thread, it wouldn't even cross my mind to give them anything. I do usually thank them when I do the newspaper announcement. Something along the lines of "I'd like to give my thanks to Dr. L and her carring nursing staff at V hospital for all their care and support"

I don't do gifts for them, but they get a Christmas card mailed to them each year

Last time - my OB didn't give any kind of gift to baby. I just got all the freebies the hospital gives you like the little hats, a few diapers, a blanket, etc. I didn't give anything to my OB other than a birth annoucement/picture of Matthew. I did bring a bunch of candy for the nurses while I was in the hospital but the birth went so fast that it wasn't brought out. The day after he was born I gave it to the LC and she put it in the nurses lounge for all the nurses to share.

This time - using a midwife so I have no idea! I will bring labor snacks so we could bring some food for her as well like we did for the nurses but I really don't know what she likes...I know she watches her diet.

We'll have food and stuff available while she's at our home...maybe we'll get a gift. Hadn't really thought about it. We do pay her afterall.

I hadn't even thought of it. Isn't his fee enough of a gift?
