DS came so fast, I really didn't need to do too much, but my doula did coach me before we started on position, etc., and how to "curl" around the baby while I was pusing... it was obviously effective because he was out in about 15 minutes. I think a big part of it is waiting until the baby has actually descended enough... just because you're 10 cm doesn't mean that it's actually time to push. Once the baby is down there and ready, your body will do what it needs to get him/her out without much effort. I would say that's my biggest piece of advice to first time moms... don't waste precious energy pushing for hours if you don't feel the urge/need to push... when baby is ready, you will know it!!!
