HI, wondering when your SO gets home, do you give him the baby for awhile to give yourself a break? If so, how long does he take the LO?

No, I give him the other two kids. On a normal day he is in charge of the older two from the time he gets home until bedtime, while I make dinner and such. He hasn't gone back to work yet, so it'll be interesting to see how things work out. I think it'll depend on whether or not Allison is hungry or whatnot, but I'll probably have him just watch her with the other kids when he gets home.

i usually wait until our 2 yr old goes to sleep, then I try to pass off Travis for a little bit. Some nights are more successful than others though

No, Occasionally I'll ask him to make a bottle. Otherwise, I do it all. All night, all day. Occasionally when he can tell I NEED a break, he'll take the baby and tell me to take 5. In the morning while she's asleep still, he cuddles with her... but the only time I don't have to do anything... is when there is nothing to be done.

DH is away and I'm staying with my parents right now. I have the baby all night and most of the day. They usually take her for an hour or two in the evenings to get some granny and papa time with her. So that's usually when I get my showering and such done.

Tristan is with his dad for maybe an hour a day at the most. It's tough bc usually when I hand him off like 10 mins later he wants to eat and goes for my bf's boobs lol. I find it easier to accept that I'm going to be the caretaker instead of fighting with bf about him taking care of our son.

My husband works out of town all week, so it's mostly just me and the 4 kids. Some days are easier than others. When DH is here, I hand Aniyah off often for him to burp her, and in the mornings, I like to wake up early. If Aniyah is still tired I give her to Dad to sleep on his chest for awhile so I can get up and have some coffee in peace.

I also cloth diaper, with a lot of prefolds. He would never be able to get a prefold on successfully, so I do most of the diapering. I also have fitteds and pockets. I do let him change her diaper and put one of those on, but I change probably about 200 diapers to his 1..LOL (mostly due to him not being home).

I often hand him off, but not as soon as he gets home. I've done that once because I needed to go to the store, but generally, I let him wind down and get settled before I ask for his help. The older kids usually bombard him the minute he walks in the door anyway.

Keelan seems to having his fussy time in the evenings, so I have been getting his help lately.

I'm the opposite of almost everyone here, he is the one staying home and I am working. When I get home I CANNOT wait to get my hands on her! I change and shower if I have to and then I jump right in and have her for the rest of the evening and night.

Bentley is such a good baby and he is rarely fussy. Usually dh takes over with the girls when he is home. Sometimes if he is home in the morning he will let me sleep in and take care of all of them .

DF does not help much with the baby, our agreement really is he help more with our older girls. Mainly our 2 year old since she is such a handful.

I change all Carters diapers and DF changes all Olivias diapers when he is home...Although it does bother me that he does not seem to be bonding with the baby much this schedule is working better for us. He does take the baby up to hold him a few times during the day. Also he feeds him at the 3-4 am feeding...

My bf works out of town 4-5 days a week, but on the weekends he usually gets up with our older one, who wakes up btw 6 and 7. I can't usually sleep in though, it's a weird mommy thing I think, so what I usually take is an hour while Aniston is napping to take a bath and read

dh doesn't get home until 6:30pm, so the other four kids are already asleep by then. If not, I get him to put the big two to bed. I usually let him eat then he takes the baby, he settles him really well during the witching hours before bedtime (irritable, screaming, tired), we'll usually bath him together. During the night since JoJo is up three times from midnight to 6am, I usually get dh to give him a bottle once during the night, usually at that 4am feed so I can sleep, dh is up at 5 anyhow for work. I usually try to run my errands in the evenings before bed, its a good break for me from the insanity. DH doesn't mind, he likes having the baby to himself for a few hours.

He made half the baby, he can get half the sleep just like me

DH will do things to help out with our DD, nothing too much more like getting her a drink or playing with her. He holds usually holds Dominic for a few minutes if I need to go have a shower or go outside to feed animals etc. I do all his feedings (I'm BF'ing) and all his diapers/clothes changing, so I pretty much do everything. Which is fine, because a lot of times he goes out of town for work during the week so I'm used to our schedule anyways.

I do! When DH gets home, once he's settled, I go to the bathroom and shower, read, relax. Then I make dinner, clean etc. Then we reconvene and send the evening together as a family.

I do, too!

DH comes home for his lunch hour and changes her and holds her so that I can eat, then he gets home around 5:15 and starts to cook dinner. Then we eat, and he usually takes care of her (other than feeding her) until he leaves for work again the next morning.

I could NOT do this without him.
