I posted in mid February about my DH's "issues" with his stomach and having to go see a GI doctor.

He has lost 30 lbs in a month.

He saw the GI doc yesterday. All they did was FEEL his stomach. The doc said he THINKS DH is "empty" and just has IBS. But he has this HUGE cramp on his right side and has had it for over a month! DH insisted that he hasn't been eating and has not been going to the restroom. So they finally scheduled him for a colonoscopy for Thursday morning. He doesn't have insurance so they were going to charge him the Medicare price at $74. Then they called him back and said they can't do it and that they have to charge him the $74 + $296 more!! WHAT!!! THEN the colonoscopy is going to be $2500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They said if we pay it the day of then it will onlybe $1200. Sigh. But if I had him on my insurance (his work doesn't offer it) then it would cost me about $800 a month!

The "good" thing about this is that he is eating less and eating better food. We went to dinner with my mom last night and he chose a chicken cesaer salad and didn't even finish it all.

But 30 lbs in a month....yikes!!! He's skinny! LOL He went from 265 to 235.

So are you still going to get it done? Hopefully they figure things out.

Wow, that's nuts! I hope they figure it out! I've heard of that sometimes and people end up having to do daily enemas for the rest of their lives... really hope that's not what he has to do!

Oh honey. I am so sorry. I hope you both figure things out. Trust me I know first hand about having to get tests done with no insurance. Hubby went to the ER months ago for kidney stones with no insurance. $3500.00 4 hour ER visit bill now.

I will be thinking of you both and pray things work themselves out.
