I think I have a clogged milk duct. It started about half way through the night. He nursed on that side but definitely didn't empty it (not sure why that would cause it though because he often snacks). A couple hours later it started getting extremely painful. The bottom and side parts of the breast feel okay but the top starting at the base and all the way to the nipple are SO, SO sore

What should I do? I've looked up the basic stuff like have him nurse as much as possible, hot/cold compress, massage but are there any other tricks that might help?

I feel kind of sick and light headed a bit too. Is that normal??

Does it sound like a clogged milk duct?

Sick makes me think mastitis.

I have the most luck massaging it HARD in the shower and then pumping.

Good luck, I know how painful it can be.

Makes me think mastitis too. Are you running a fever? If you are, I would give your doc a call.

I don't have a fever and it doesn't really feel hard like I would think mastitis would. Hmmm

Sorry I haven't updated. I gave it 24 hours of applying hot compress, and trying to get him to nurse as much as possible. It hadn't improved and the area started to get red + me still feeling fatigued and getting chills etc.

I went to the DR this morning and it is indeed mastitis I'm not feeling any better as of now, but hopefully soon with the antibiotics.

I really wonder what caused it, after nearly 8 months of nursing with no problems whatsoever. And I thought my milk supply was decreasing a bit with him feeding less too!?
