Anyone dealing with this with your LO? Kynslee has been eating solids for several weeks now and every couple days she gets constipated and - - we have to help her push her poop out. It's very painful for her and they are very very formed - just like adult and not like a baby. The rest of the days she has formed poop (from eating solids) but it's more of a baby formed(TMI- it's softer looking but formed, not hard like when she's constipated). I breastfeed her about 7-8 times a day about and then she eats a couple jars of baby food. Anything I can do to help with the constipation? I heard juice may help and have been giving her VERY watered down apple juice (about 80-90% water and the rest juice).

Oh man, that's too bad! Brady deals with this sometimes. I don't know exactly what you mean by helping her to push it out, but we have tried taking his temperature sometimes. That seems to be hit or miss in terms of helping loosen things up or not.

And we give him applesauce and avoid bananas when we know he needs to go. We also try to avoid him ever eating too many bananas or any food of the same type really, just to try to keep this from happening as much as we can.

In terms of helping them, there's not much we can do! I'll take him on stroller rides or put him in a vibrating seat or his swing and that seems to help keep him distracted and I think the motion and movement can be helpful too.

My nephew is dealing with the same issue right now..Im not having so much of a problem with my daughter because she's on nutramigen formula for allergies and it is known to cause watery poo..LOL...when you give her the juice..put a half a teaspoon of flaxseed oil in it...thats what my sisters ped recommended to her..its safer than corn syrup(which is what they used to tell us to use)..also if things do get really bad you could get infant suppositories but we find the oily bottles help a lot..

By helping her push I mean actually pushing down there to help push the poop out because it's too hard for her to push. I'll try less bananas and see if hat will help.

This constipation is different from when she was younger and wouldn't go for days. This is more she tries to go and the poop is too hard to come through.

I've given her baby food prunes before and after about 10mins she threw them up - it wasn't spit-up but actual throw-up of the prunes. I have no idea why. Maybe I'll try again.

I'll try flaxseed oil also - thanks for the tip

Poor thing.

Nathan had his first bout this week. I put him to the breast more often.

I wont start any sort of juices for a long time. But, I did offer him some prunes and he had some of that. I also increased his fruit purees and eliminated any rice cereal or bananas. I make his own food so, I did make it more liquidy for that time period too. Hope your sweet thing feels better!

Poor Finn has had a pooping problem since birth. I was forced to do suppositories once a week, for a month, then switched to a half teaspoon of Phillips, every two days. Finally, it went away. He can't have rice, or bananas ro anything like that though or it'll come back.

I think bananas make her more constipated but not really sure. I've tried prunes and she likes them but every time after she eats them she spits up the rest of the day and one time threw everything up right after she ate them. I have no idea why she doesn't like prunes. Right now the water with a tiny bit of apple juice mixed in is working so I'm trying to stick with that. I won't give her any other juices but figure if apple juice helps her then I don't mind. I hate to see her struggle.

Moo has never been a regular pooper, but with solids, it's been a little better.

I dont think there is anything wrong iwth juice, we just wont start it until I have too. Bradley is a huge juice drinker and although I even still dilute his, I would prefer if Nathan would actually drink plain water

I didn't think you were saying anything was wrong with juice; I just state that I give Kynslee a little as it's what works for her. It doesn't take away her want for the booby by any means -lol and it's so watered down it shouldn't be too sugary.
