i tried to feed Roran some baby jar chicken ... he was really unhappy about it and wouldnt eat it at all LOL
my mother said she didnt feed me meat until way later in life ... am i jumping the gun here ? i figured since wic gave us papers for specifically meat he would need to be eating it by this time.
i was thinking maybe i should mix in pear with some chicken ... get him used to it ... sweeten it up .... OR chicken with sweet potatoes mixed in? i duno that sounds YUMMY to me ,, lol
OR should i wait and try them in like another month... more then a month? my mom said she didnt feed us meat til a yr or maybe a bit longer ...
so
whos LO is eating meat here?
was it a good reaction from the start or baby have to get used to it?

Colton eats real meat--we didn't do jarred baby food with him and he loves it! When I had my DD I did the jarred food with her but did NOT do the meat- it smelled horrid and grossed me out.

Ackkk no offence to those who do feed jarred meat but I've never given my kids that stuff (and my 1st dd ate jarred baby food) its just way to nasty to even consider, my thoughts are, if you open it up and it smells like something you would feed your dog then no way am I giving it to my baby lol.
Carter eats real meat and he LOVES it, doesn't matter about teeth as long as he can chew, I cut Carters chicken up really tiny, he also loves ham, turkey & beef.

I tried to give Tristan the beef in beef broth jarred baby food and he hated it. I tried a little and not only was it plain but the texture was really weird. We stopped buying the jarred stuff and give him regular meet. He only has one bottom tooth and one coming in so we give him ground beef in small pieces and have let him try hotdogs in very small bites. He loves it! I agree that as long as he can chew having teeth isn't really necessary to eat mean. Just make sure the pieces are small.

Katelyn love meat. I always mix it with something else though. Beef and green beans, turkey and sweet potatoes, her favorite is chicken mixed with apples and squash.
Now she sells feeds as well as she does though I rarely give her jarred food anymore.
She has no teeth but has no issues eating chicken cut into small pieces, vienna sausages, tiny bits of porkchop, etc. She also loves to fish which is super easy for babies to eat and good for them.
The only thing she doesn't like is plain ground beef. Even when I make casserole and stuff she pick everything out and leaves the hamburger.
I'd try mixing it with something else. And I confess, are usually taste her concoctions first. The jarred meats stink but my mixtures always taste good.

I've given her small bits of chicken. My sitter said she eats some meat things at daycare (sitter supplies the food). I haven't seen it so I don't know what it is, but she said that she loves it. She said they are bite sized pieces of meat...so I don't know if it's the jarred stuff or not.

little rose isn't too keen on table food meat, but likes some of the Earth's Best turkey and chicken meals (they're mixed with veggies and grains). That's the only brand of meat purees I will give her - they don't taste bad.

I let Miles try the Gerber jarred meat and WOW it was was rejected quickly and wholeheartedly! I don't blame him - it's gross. I could get him to eat a little bit of it if I mixed it with veggies but in the end I just gave up on it since frankly I don't blame him. Like Kara I will give him the Earth's Best mixed dinners (chicken & sweet potato and turkey mixed veggies) when we're on the go since they aren't gross and Miles will eat them. But otherwise we just let him eat regular meat in little bits here and there. My twins didn't have meat until they were 5 years old so I don't think he'll die if it's not a regular part of his diet for awhile.

We dont do jarred meats even when I bought jarred baby food. It made me gag when I opened it to try for David so never again. Everett eats what we eat just in tiny pieces.

Alexis eats some chicken, and some fish, but isn't a huge fan of anything else. She mostly eats veggies and fruits.

Yep Jacob spit out the jarred meat faster than I thought possible, and then I smelled it and understood. I've given him little pieces of chicken from my tacos, and will give him some sausage when I make stuffed peppers tonight.

Just looking at the jarred meat makes me feel ill!
Both of my kids went straight to regular meat; Evan eats chicken, turkey (breast and ground), ground beef, pork chop. He seems to really love all of it so far. He only has one tooth and he does fine; if you think about it, though, you chew mostly with your back teeth, and our babies aren't getting those for awhile.
I think mixing it in with other things is a good idea; if it's the taste he doesn't like, mixing with sweeter flavours or stuff he likes would probably help him eat it.

He will eat meat, but he gets it in finger food form.

Alaina LOVES chicken! She will eat my entire dinner if I let her (we eat a lot of chicken ). We just cut it up into little bites and she gums it up. She also likes hotdogs, although I can't stand them so she's only tried it once, and Matt has given her some red meat which she also loves. We also don't do the jarred baby meats because none of my babies have ever liked them so I don't want to waste the money.

We won't be doing jarred meats either. Personally it reminds me too much of cat food. Actually my mom used to feed our elder cats that when they got older or to give them medicine. So i've always associated the jar food with cat food.
Joshua has had bit of chicken and loves it. Although he only likes a little bit. I caught him once take a small piece from his dad and then turn his head and spit it out. Then he turned around and wanted more! I thought it was the funniest thing ever.
I haven''t tried him on any other meat yet. I probably should. He also has no teeth but just gums everything.
