Every single day. We read between 10-15 books a day. Our favorite right now is, Is Your Mama a LLama by Deborah Guarino.
Parents ALWAYS ask me what they should be doing to help their children become successful readers. I always tell them to read at least three books a day with their children from day one: one familiar, one new, and one they chose themselves (if they're able to).
Literacy is my area, so I'll stop right now or I'll go on and on.

I haven't been lately. She won't sit even remotely still for it. Not sure what to do there. Do I just keep on reading it while she crawls around and plays?

This is what I was going to say. Do we keep reading, even when they're doing other things? I would love to read to Will, but he is completely focused on getting the hell off my lap and grabbing the nearest object to put in his mouth. lol

Keep reading! You know how kids can quote commercials from tv even when they appear to be busy with something else? It's the same with reading. When your LO's are older, they will come back to view a page of their favorite parts out of a book, or you'll observe them quoting from the book while you are reading. It may not seem like it, but they are listening.
Also, reading to them during quiet times like when they're ready for bed or nursing or drinking a bottle will signal to them that reading time is a time when we sit still, listen, & enjoy.

Evan loves playing with books, and he wants to hold them and chew on them, which makes it hard to read I've been giving him a book to hold and reading from another if he's on my lap. Or I"ll just sit on the floor beside him while he plays and read to him. He usually stops what he's doing to look at me off and on. My daughter used to be a book monster, but she's gotten away from it a bit. We always read at bedtime, though.
His favourites are picture books- we have one with colours, first words and trucks. We chat about the pictures while he looks/chews.

I read Kairi a book every night and Alexis sits in. She sometimes doesn't pay attention, but she's there, and sometimes she loves the stories.

Not nearly enough lately, maybe once every couple days but he gets distracted and I stop. I used to read to DD lots but not so much lately either.

We have a scheduled "quiet time" and our house between 2 and 3 in the afternoon. I don't care if you do take a nap but he needs to play quietly in his room for that hour. The first 15 minutes or so is spent reading books. If Katelyn isn't napping she sits with us while we read (for you ladies having a hard time getting baby to sit still give them their own board book to hold/play with/chew on while you read).
Then at bedtime we read a few more.
AJ is a total pita about it and if it were up to him we would probably read 100 books a day. I am counting the days until I can bug him to read a book to me
Favorite book? I read him goodnight moon every single night when he was a baby and know it by heart. I really love Guess How Much I Love You though "Then he lay down close by and whispered with a smile, "I love you right up to the moon - and back.""

Almost daily. Sometimes she is too cranky or goes to bed quickly, but I LOVE to read and I want her to love to read, too. We have so many. I joined Dolly Parton's book club and they send a book every month. She got a ton for Christmas from me, my mom, my sister, and my sis-in-law. My sis and sis in law always buy her books. We also got a huge bag of books from my sitter.
I think HER favorite right now is this Elmo finger puppet book. It's so cute. She loves it.

I read with Erin and Patrick several times a day, and Allison sits in if she's awake.

Let him put stuff in his mouth, and then try reading again.
For about a month Chauncey would grab the book I was holding and stuff it in his mouth.
We read to Chauncey several times a day. I find it's easiest to hold his attention if we read while he sits on his potty chair!

We read twice a day, or as many times Ryan bring me a book. Always one before bed though.

I read to my toddler (oldest is in school most of the time) mainly in the mornings, and I always sit on the floor so Carter comes over to mainly climb all over me but at least he is there lol.

We read at least at bedtime each day, but usually a few more times sprinkled throughout the day. She loves her books. Her favorites are anything with Elmo or Sesame Street, the Going to Bed Book by Sandra Boynton and any touch and feel books! She gets sooo excited when she sees Elmo on a page. Her mouth goes all 'baby bird' and she reaches out and tries to eat Elmo.

I love Sandra Boynton's illustrations & board books. Layla still loves One, Two, Three.
Also, Reading Magic by Mem Fox is an excellent resource for parents who have questions on how to help their children enjoy books.

Everyday we are reading. Daddy reads to her out of his Car and Driver magazine...lol! I read her books to her. Sometimes I read articles online to her and the read parts of the Hunger Game series to her. Sometimes she was on my lap, but mostly she wanted to be on the floor playing. Instead of me reading quietly to myself, I just read it aloud.
After donating a bunch, I still have about 6 banker boxes full of children's books. I have a bookshelf in her room and a bin by the rocking chair full. I need to rotate the books out for the seasons/holidays too and put a stash in easy reach down in the basement (now that we finished it).
Savannah's favorite book right now is Curious George Good Night Book. She can be so tired and crabby, but will stop and give big smiles when she hears the words from that book.
