I think my two youngest boys have this and I'm freaking out. I've quarantined them to the opposite end of the house from Squeakers, scrubbed the house from top to bottom, and am calling the ped at 9 when they open.
I've kept everyone home from school today. I've called the gal I babysit for and told her my kids are sick, and I suspect highly contagious.
I have to call the school and tell them no one will be in today.
The girls at daycare thought Brady had it one afternoon because he had some spots on his feet, so I took him in to the doctor. The doctor there told me he didn't think Brady had it because he didn't have a fever or anything on his hands or mouth, but I know Hand Foot and Mouth is VERY common. It is highly contagious, but it's usually pretty harmless from what he said. A mild fever, sometimes the bumps are uncomfortable. He said most kids get over it pretty quickly.
Well, my pediatrician says it's not hand foot and mouth, just a bad case of cold sores. He said he could have got if he shared a drink at school or chapstick with another little kid. He also said he didn't think it was hand foot and mouth due to there not being a fever with it.
My sons lymph nodes are swollen under his jaw line, so he thinks there's a secondary infection of some sort. He has an antibiotic and a follow up in one week.
