I have brown hair, but I've been tempted lately to do something I've never done before: Go blonde! I can't believe I'm saying this, LOL.

Anyway, I live on a pretty humble budget. There is no way I can afford to go get my hair professionally colored once, let alone keep up with it each month.

Do any of you lighten your hair from brown to blonde (ala Jennifer Aniston) from a bottle? Is it possible to do this? Will it look orange or any other offensive thing?

I only bleach my hair to be able to dye it other colors, so I don't have any experience with going and staying blond.
I do know that it's usually recommended you have a professional do that sorta thing.
Sorry I'm not more help.

I don't. I have dirty blonde/strawberry blonde hair, depending on who you ask.

Everytime I have gone blonde from a box, it ended up redish/orangish. It still looked cute, but wasn't the blonde I was going for.

Maybe if you get it done professionally the first time, it should be a lot easier to keep up with it from a box.

Good luck, can't wait to see it!

I just use box dye to do highlights. I'm brunette but I can't stand being a brunette, I NEED to be just brown. With blonde highlights. Otherwise, I get dark and drab. I find the good quality dyes will give the best results--I like Clairol or Herbal Essence. Also if you aim to go a dark blonde you'll look more natural. Use those small pics on the side of the box that say if your hair is this shade to start, you'll end up with this shade. It's not always the pic on the front either. You may need to get a light blonde color to get your hair medium to dark blonde. That's what I do.

Yes, but they all go have their hair done. I can't afford that

We have something here called Blondissima and even though I had to use 2 bottles (I have thick hair) it WORKED. I went BLONDE. Not orange, or red. I have very dark, very dye resistant hair. It cost a little more because I needed two bottles, but it was still a whole lot cheaper than going to a salon.

Good luck! Take before and after pics!!!

Ooohh, that's good to know! Does it ruin your hair as bad as everyone says?

I used it for about 5 months, and admittedly by the time I was ready to go back, the ends were pretty dry. This was way back when I was 17 though. I didn't cut my hair, or make any real attempts to keep it well conditioned. If I were to do it now, I would like to think i would take better care of my hair.
