DH started his night shift job Friday night. Friday and Saturday nights actually went better than I expected. I was a little nervous, but I left a light on downstairs and that made me feel safter when I have to get up thirty times a night to pee lol Kaylee slept all night both nights without a peep.
The days were rough. I am NOT used to getting up at 6:50, and since I don't drive, I was stuck in the house pretty much all weekend. Kaylee was really enjoying the one-on-one time though, and I got lots of snuggles in, which was good! But the more bending, picking her up (which I have already been told by my doctor not to do - yah right!), and climbing the stairs I had to do, the more sore I would get. By last night I was having some brown spotting, back pain and so much stretching/pulling in the pelvis region that I thought the baby was going to drop out any minute!!! I don't know what else I can do. I know I'm supposed to take it easy but it's not like I can put my feet up and relax while I'm watching Kaylee. She is too busy! Hopefully I will get used to it and it will get easier as time goes on...
Last night Kaylee woke up at 11:00 crying the saddest little cry!!! Usually we leave her and she goes back to sleep in a minute or two, but she kept getting more and more upset. So I go in her room and do the butt patting like we usually do, which didn't work. So I started singing to her which always puts her to sleep. Nothing. She wasn't moving at all, except she kept kicking her one foot. I don't know if I'm just a spazz or what, but I started feeling worried that something was really wrong and that she could stop breathing or something and that I'm all alone in the house and couldnt drive her to the ER and stuff... So after standing in her room for 20 minutes I finally decided I would bring her into our room with me (which we NEVER do!) and when I went to pick her up from her crib, there was a thread from her blanket wrapped around her toe on the foot she kept kicking!!! So I took the thread off, brought her into our room, and she still kept crying. She kicked her foot for about another 20 minutes crying (I'm thinking she was making sure it wasn't still on there) and then she finally fell asleep. It was about 45 minutes to an hour all just because (I think!) a thread was stuck on her toe!!! How frustrating!!!
DH has been miserable since he started nights and it's because he's having a hard time adjusting to sleeping during the day. I am trying my best to be patient and understanding, but at the same time I am in pain and exhausted by the time he wakes up at 4 PM and need a break, but he just has a cow about every little thing so it makes it hard. Hopefully he will be able to adjust better and the rest of the week won't be too bad.
Thanks for updating. I was wondering how it was going.
I totally understand about thw being alone at night. I'm super paranoid about it. i've been leaving the kitchen light on but it only helps a little. The worst is taking the dog out before bed. I hate hate hate standing outside alone at night in a poorly lit area.
Hopefully dh adjusts to his new schedule quickly. I remember when dh worked long nights, he was always so cranky.
Thanks to Bokkechick for my siggy.
