Quit smoking: July 7th, 2008
Started Fitness Plan: July 13th, 2008

(7/13) Day 1: 20 minutes on treadmill. 1 min. intervals alternating 3MPH and 5MPH.

(7/14) Day 2: 20 min. on treadmill. Domed interval workout. Low speed of 2.5 MPH, high speed of 5.5 MPH. Upper body weight lifting (lat pulldowns, curls, tricep dips, butterfly presses, etc).

(7/15) Day 3: 2 mile walk/run on trail followed by a hill sprint.

(7/16) Day 4: Going to buy a scale. Stabilizer ball exercises.

(7/17) Day 5: Light upper body & core workout. Push-ups and crunches on stabilizer ball. Tricep dips on stairs.

(7/18) Day 6: 1.62 mile jog/run with speeds between 4 and 5.5 MPH. Heartrate between 150-170 beats per minute (BPM). Incline set at 1. 20 minute duration.

(7/19) Day 7: Weight 133.5. Attending wedding. No workout.

(7/20) Day 8: 1.53 miles in 20 minutes on treadmill. Heartrate of 150-170 BPM. Felt quite strong!

(7/21 & 7/22) Day 9 & 10: Resting. Sore from work and overwhelmed with homework and meetings!

(7/23) Day 11: 2.0 mile run on t.m. Speed of 4.5 MPH. Incline setting of 1. Heartrate of 120-140 BPM! 5 mile bike ride on the Eliza Furnace trail. Time was one hour.

(7/24) Day 12: 2.05 mile run. Time of 25 minutes. Incline setting of 1. Didn't track heart rate. Good news: Didn't even get a stitch in my side during this run! Light upper body weight lifting. Chest presses, lat pull downs, butterfly presses, bicep curls, and tricep pull downs. Crunches and push ups on the stabilizer ball. Did an additional .4 miles walking at 2.5 MPH on the treadmill.

(7/25) Day 13: 1.62 mile run. Time 20 minutes. Incline set at 1. Avg. speed: 4.86 MPH. Started at 4.0 MPH for 4 minutes, increased to 4.5 MPH for 4 minutes, increased to 5.0 MPH for 4 minutes, increased to 5.5 MPH for 4 minutes, increased to 6.0 MPH for 3 minutes and then decreased to 4.0MPH for 1 minute. Planning crunches and pushups on the stabilizer ball again tonight.

(7/26) Day 14: 2.45 miles. Time 30 minutes. Incline at 1. Avg. Speed: 4.9 MPH. Started at 6.0 MPH for 6 minutes, decreased to 5.5 MPH for 6 minutes, decreased to 5.0 MPH for 6 minutes, decreased to 4.5 MPH for 6 minutes, and finally decreased to 4.0 MPH for 6 minutes. Also went to Keystone State Park Beach today. Sunburnt and feeling run down. I think I will leave my strength workout for tomorrow.

(7/27) Day 15: No actual workout. Went to the zoo. LOTS of walking!

(7/28) Day 16: Lifted 110 lb. valves at work all day. 2.6 mile run in 30 minutes. Random intervals of 4.0 - 6.0 MPH. Incline set to 1.5. Feel dehydrated. Going to push water until bed.

(7/29) Day 17: 1.82 miles. 20 minutes. incline of 1.0. speeds of 4.5 - 6.0 MPH. 5.46 MPH avg.

(7/30) Day 18: Date night! No exercise!

(7/31) Day 19: 3.1 miles (My first 5K!) in 37:15. incline of 1. speeds of 4.0 MPH - 6.5 MPH. 12 min/mile average pace.

(8/1) Day 20: Resting. RIght ankle and knee tight. Bought new running shoes.

(8/2) Day 21: 2.0 miles. 23:15 time. speeds of 5.0 MPH - 7.0 MPH. Think I am dehydrated. Pushing lots of fluids today. Also 10 heel raises on the stairs, 2 minutes of heel/toe walking and 3 sets of 10 reps of palms down curls and kickbacks. 30 minutes of belly dancing with the show "shimmy" on Fit TV. Push-ups, crunches, and stretches on the stabilizer ball. 30 minutes hip hop dance. 1.8 mile interval run at speeds from 4.0 - 6.0 MPH. Max Heart Rate: 130 BPM.

(8/3) Day 22: 4.75 mile/ 25 min. bike ride in Deer Lakes Park. 1.25 mile/12 min. run in Deer Lakes Park. Did 'healthy' grocery shopping today. Bought lots of organics and produce. 2 sets/10 reps of reverse back extensions, bridges and supermans on the stabilizer ball.

(8/4) Day 23: 1.5 mile/17 minute run on treadmill. 4.5 - 6.5 MPH. Mostly 6.5 MPH. Worked 12 hours so I was too tired to do anything else.

(8/5) Day 24: 15 pushups on stabilizer ball, 5 minutes curnches on stabilizer ball, 30 plie squats, 20 lying leg raises, 2x across living room doing bum walk, 30 minutes belly dancing, 2 sets of 10 thigh stretches, 3 sets of 10 pelvic lifts, 2 sets of 10 inner leg raises, i minute each side standing on one foot, 10 squats. Ran a 36:34 5k! Best time yet! 20 minutes upper body strength on the weight machine.

(8/6) Day 25: 20 push ups on the stabilizer ball, 5 minutes crunches on stabilizer ball, 15 crunches on the floor, 15 raised leg crunches on floor, 10 oblique crunches on each side. Fighting an injury and a stomach bug so I think that's it for today.

(8/7) Day 26: 2 mile trail run (about 1 hour on red loop of DL park), .25 miles around the lake at the park (10 minutes), will probably do some strength training tonight and I think lifting 110 lb. valves at work should count, too. LOL.

(8/8) Day 27: 1.75 mile trail run on the red loop of DL Park. 30 lunges on each side and 20 crunches on the stabilizer ball. Again, lifted 30 110lb. valves at work from knee high to waist high and then back to knee high.

(8/9) Day 28: Hiked for THREE HOURS with my coworker all over DL Park! Did 20 tricep extensions and 20 tricep dips for the exercise challenge! Also push ups and crunches on the stabilizer ball as well as a LOT of stretching.

(8/10) Day 29: 1.5 mile/18 minute run. One hour hiking in the park. 30 glute extensions and 30 plie squats.

(8/11) Day 30: Stomach virus has struck again. Down for the count today...

(8/12) Day 31: Lifted 33 90 lb. valves from knee height to waist height and back again today. Did 2 sets of 10 reps each of scapular retractions, external shoulder rotations and reverse flys. 4 mile/46:40 run on the tready. incline at 1.5 for 2 miles and then incline at 1.0 for 2 miles. Also did a .54 mile run (Literally ran to the store and back for milk!)

(8/13) Day 32: Worked a 12 hour day. Did a 1.61 mile/17:30 recovery run.

(8/14) Day 33: Walked the mall for about an hour. Did the 20 minute Exercise TV abs video for the challenge.

(8/15) Day 34: Approximately 3.75 mile/40 minute trail run in DL Park. (White loop to yellow access to yellow to lavender connector to purple access to frisbee disk course to cat tail drive to middle lake and then down around lower lake and back to car) Felt AWESOME! Also, 2 sets of 10 reps each of leg adductions, leg abductions, and squats for challenge.

(8/16) Day 35: Approximately 4.0 mile/40 minute trail run in DL Park. (White trail all the way to the farmhouse and then back to the car).

(8/17) Day 36: Approximately 10.0 mile/2:15:00 trail run in DL Park. Took the white trail to the intersection of the orange trail (3.75 miles) and then returned to the service road (about 2.0 miles). Somehow got lost and travelled in circles that brought me back to the service road twice (estimating that as 1.5 miles). Finally gave up and followed the service road out to the dead end road (estimating 1.5 mile) and down to the main road (about .75 mile) and then down the main road back to the car (estimating .5 miles). Also, 30 lunges, 30 crunches, 20 push ups. Lots of stretching too.

(8/18) Day 37: Approximately 3.5 mile/40 minute trail run in DL Park (White trail). Also chased Gemma around the playground, did hanging sit ups from the monkey bars and then ran around the middle lake with her (approx. .5 miles?).

(8/19) Day 38: Rest day. Down with allergies.

(8/20) Day 39: 1.75 mile run along white trail in DL Park. 8:10 one mile! PR!

(8/21) Day 40: 3.1 mile (5k) in DL park around lower and middle lakes. 32:45. 20 lunges and 20 squats for challenge. 20 jackknifes on the stabilizer ball. push ups and crunches on the stabilizer ball. hip lifts on the stabilizer ball. tricep dips on the stairs. Repeated the 20 minute ab video from the 8/14 challenge because I liked it! 20 minutes stretching prior to bed.

(8/22) Day 41: 15min/1.50 miles Fartlek. Lat Pulldowns: 2 sets of 10 reps with 30 lbs. Hammer Curls: 2 sets of 10 reps with 10 lbs. Seated Bench Press: 2 sets of 10 reps with 30 lbs. Quad extensions: 3 sets of 10 reps with 30 lbs.

(8/23) Day 42: 20 minute/1.5 mile steady run. 100 push ups for challenge. 30 crunches on the stabilizer ball. 10 jackknifes on the stabilizer ball.

(8/24) Day 43: 20 minute bikini body video for challenge. 30 minutes of Shimmy.

(8/25) Day 44: 1.5 hour/6.5 mile run in DL Park. Challenge exercises.

(8/26) Day 45: 20 minute challenge video.

(8/27) Day 46: 20 minute cool running stretching routine.

(8/28) Day 47: 1.5 mile/15:00 minute run.

(8/29) Day 48: Got new running shoes. Diagnosed with weak VMO in left knee. Quad strengthening exercises and rest.

(8/30) Day 49: 2.58 mile/30:09 run. Bicycles, ankle circles, reverse crunches, bridges, scissor kicks, squat jumps, gluteal kickbacks, push ups (wide arm), flutter kicks, supermans.

(8/31) Day 50: 46:38 4.0 mile run on trails. 28 min. 2.52 mile run on treadmill.

(9/14) Day 64: 71 crunches on the stabilizer ball and floor.

(9/15) Day 65: 2.25 mile/23:10 run. W2D2 pushup challenge. 16, 13, 11, 11, 25(max). Total = 76! 25 'frog' crunches on the floor.

(9/16) Day 66: W2D3 pushup challenge. 15, 15, 12, 12, 20(max). Total = 74!

(9/17) Day 67: 2.5 mile/28:45 run.

(9/18) Day 68: W2D3 of pushup program. 16, 17, 14, 14, 25(max)! Total = 86!

(9/22) Day 72: 2.3 mile/21:27 run around the neighborhood!

(9/27) Day 77: 10 minute core/ab video. 25 minute hip hop dance video. 13:46/1.25 mile recovery run on the treadmill.

(9/28) Day 78: 10 minute core/ab video. 25 minute Biggest Loser Cardio Bootcamp video. W4D2 pushup challenge. 25, 29, 25, 25, 45(max) = 149 total!
