Hope no one minds if I start a journal of my own here....

I'll start a little back story-

I've been overweight/obese my whole life, even as a kid. I was never "thin".. I was never average. In middle school I was 200 pounds... and got up to 215 pounds in high school (I'm barely 5'2", btw). I had tried to lose weight 10178161 times to no avail. It's so hard!!!

One day in the beginning of 2003 I put on a pair of jeans... those were my "bigger jeans" and they were so snug, I 'ed in the mirror looking at myself. I had enough. I put myself on weight watchers (at home) and I actually did it. It took me 15 months.. and I went from 215 pounds to my lowest (BY FAR) ever weight of 124 pounds.

Erika's Loss

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to maintain that Soon after I met my husband... then we married... he was from Holland and we spent 8 months of paperwork and stress getting him over to the US.. and then I became pregnant and had Alexis. I started my pregnancy at 160 and gained 30+ pounds up to 196.

I tried 100 times to lose the weight after she arrived.. and just had no motivation like I did when I lost my 90 pounds. It was so hard! When I lost my weight the first time I was on my own.. I cooked meals just for me. I could exercise when I wanted. I found it very challenging to try and lose weight when I had to cook meals (one meal) for all THREE of us.. and to find time to exercise being a SAHM with a little kid. And a husband who, also, needed my time. It was very different from the first time I lost my weight. I tried.. I lost 5 pounds.. I gained 6.. I tried again.. I lost 10 pounds, I regained 9. Over and over.. for nearly 3 years.

Finally, 3 weeks ago.. I re-started. I re-started with the program that I know SO works for meeeeeeee.. weight watchers, from home! It's how I did it the first time, and I knew it's what I needed to do again. I also needed to move my butt.

I'm happy to say that in 3 weeks I've lost 8.2 pounds and I'm just as motivated TODAY as I was 3 weeks ago. I couldn't be happier. I'm 100% sure THIS time will my last time.. I know it because I feel the same way NOW that I did back in 2003. I have the same motivation, and feel so strong and positive. Will I have days where I may "fail"? Sure. Will it be easy? Of course not. But, I know I'll do it this time. (for the last time!).

I'm going to try and update this thread on a DAILY basis.. sometimes with my food, sometimes with my exercise, sometimes with my thoughts. But, I know keeping a journal and people "watching" or reading will also aid in my motivation.. so, here I am!

Another day I think I'll put my daily weight in here... I weigh every day. I can fluctuate a pound either way.. even if have a good day, I can gain a little. I expect that, and it never disappoints me. I just count the Thursday weigh in as my official weigh in for the week.

Yesterday- 183.6
Today- 184

Today's Meals:

Breakfast:
Coffee w/ 2 tablespoons creamer (70 calories)
Granola Bar (100)

Lunch:
Tomato Rotini Soup (280)
1oz reduced fat Pringles (140)
Cucumbers, 3oz (13)

Dinner:
Grilled Hamburger, 4oz (217)
Hamburger Bun (110)
Baked French fries, 3oz (120)
1/2c. green beans w/ almonds (45)

Snack:
1/2c. Brownie mud pie ice cream (130)
=1225 calories

I don't actually count calories... I do weight watchers (from home) but my husband designed me a program on his computer .. when I put in the calories/fat/fiber it figures out the WW points for me, which means I always see the calories there too. I thought it'd be easier to just do the calories here. I used 26 points today. I'm "allowed" 24 on a daily basis, along with 35 extra flex points a week. Used 2 flex today, have 20 left for the rest of the week (until Wednesday, I weigh in Thursdays).

I'm not exercising today, day off.

And MAN AM I SORE! I did a new workout yesterday.. last night. I found it on "demand" on my TV.. on the exercise channel. It was strength training for about 20 minutes and it killed me. My arms are like jello today.. in a good kind of way, I suppose.

I'm pleased!

1/4 of a BIG Reeses PB heart, 35g (4)

Total Points allowed: 24 (and 35 flex a week)
Total Points Used: 26
Flex Points used: 2
Flex Points remaining (until Thursday)- 18


Exercise: 30 minutes on exercise bike
Water: 98 oz

Really pleased today! Think I got a good amount of both veggies and fruit in. Did my planned exercise. I even splurged on a PB heart! (and was able to measure out an exact serving of the BIG heart and keep it at that- woot!)
