Ok, Im new to this so forgive me if I dont know what Im doing on Just Mommies!
THis is the beginning of my Weight loss Journal, Jan 21/10. I have been very successful in the past with following the weight watchers program, losing 70lbs about 8 years ago. I maintained it well for 5 years I kept it ALL off, although I was never skinny. (size 14) I have never been skinny and Im sure I never will be, but I felt really healthy and good at this size and I could maintain it, which is very important. After getting married in 2007, 10lbs creeped on... then pregnancy ... then sleep deprivation and bad habits crept back in post baby. I was at 250lb Jan 10th, my baby is now 15months old and it is time to smarten up! My husband feels the same way, has gained aprox 30lbs since the wedding and wants to lose it. So we have begun counting points together which I thought I wouldnt like at first, but actually it is going really well. I am now at 245lb. I am a complete sugar addict and couldnt care less about salty chips and snacks. I try to walk the dog once a day, but need to step up the exercise to improve the old metabolism. Here is a recipe I used today... turned out really yummy:
Mixed Berry Scones

2 cups flour
3 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup buttermilk
1&1/2 cups mixed berries
2 Tbsp butter, cold

mix flour, sugar, bakingpowder and salt together. Cut in butter with pastry cutter. Stir in buttermilk until just moistened, then stir in berries. Spray pan with PAM, scoop batter onto pan into 6 large blobs. Bake at 400 degrees x 20min. 5 points per scone. (they are big)
If you dont have buttermilk on hand, use one cup of milk with one Tbsp vinegar as buttermilk substitute. Let it stand a couple minutes before using in the recipe.

Ok, so I'm guessing my metabolism is not what it once was... I am still only down 5lbs after 3 weeks of carefully counting points and following it precisely... hmmm. I do know that I do not feel as hungry as I used to when trying to stay within my daily points, and to me, that says Im not burning up calories as well as I used to. Makes sense, because I havent been working out and I used to work out HARD for 45min, 5 days / week. So today I went to the gym, 30 min on stair stepper and I know I need to weight train if my metabolism is gonna get going. Wish me luck! Im going to have to go to the gym when DH is home, as Jack screams his head off when I try to leave him in the Daycare and I dont see that comming to an end anytime soon. I am planning to go 3x/week to start and see if this makes a difference.

Alrighty then! Did not go to gym this week as planned, we all had strep throat instead. Fun. Now Jack has impetigo. I weighed in today and am happy to report 10lbs lost in total so far after 4 weeks counting points. I stopped eating any "extra" points that are allowed, and found this helped.. but ya, need to go to gym. I am off to Ontario for a few days this week, so it wont be happening this week, BUt it will happen!! Wish me luck, counting points when on holiday

Still hanging in there
Points counting while on holiday in Ontario=FAILED!
I got back to it as soon as I got home though, thanks to my DH encouragement. I have been struggling a bit this week with being hungry but thats probably because I went off the plan and now my body is adjusting again. I havent been working out besides walking the Dog, it is my full intention to go to the gym regulary, even twice a week would be better than zero! I am still at 10lbs down, hanging in there.

Hi, well done Your story sounds similar to my own. I too lost 70lbs and kept it off untill I got pregnant and woosh, all back on (and more). It was like it was just waiting there in the wings ready to jump back on! But... look what we got for it And we can do it again xx

Im still at it! I work evening shift, 3-11:30pm part time and I find I just dont have enough points to last me that late, when I get up at 7am.. I usually go about 5pts over those days. Other wise, Im doing OK. Still not going to the gym yet, but Im down another 2lb.
