This was my second pregnancy and had been a miserable one at that. But as I now sit here looking at my precious little boy I know that I would do it all again in a heart beat.
I woke up at 7:45am Sunday March 6th, my daughters second birthday, thinking I was peeing the bed. So I ran to the bathroom and it just kept gushing out. My daughter woke up to me running to the bathroom and came in and asked me if I was ok and I sent her to get my mom. When I told my mom what was going on she told me that my water had broken. I didnt know what to expect because my midwife had to break my water with my daughter. So I checked into the hospital at 8:15am. I had to go straight to the hospital to be started on penicillin since I had just tested positive for group B Strep.
When I finally got settled into by room a nurse came in to test my fluid to confirm that it was amniotic fluid and from there to check if I was dilated. I was at a 3. They got me hooked up to the monitors and apparently I was having contractions but I couldn't feel them. They checked me again at noon but I hadnt changed at all and still wasn't feeling my contractions. So at 1:00pm they started me on pitocin to get things moving. By 3:00pm I was at a six and asked for some drugs. My midwife told me no since I was dilating so fast she wanted the baby to not be sleepy when he got here and she knew that I wished to go drug free if I could. Just before 5:00pm she had me go get in the jacuzzi (totally worth it. I think next child I will opt to be in that thing the entire time until I have to push. lol) I was in there for less then 20 minutes when I had the urge to push. I pushed 3 or 4 times and at 5:35pm March 6, 2011 (his big sisters second brithday) Alexander was born. Two weeks early weighing 7lbs 10oz and measuring 19 in long.
