I was looking a storage stuff for Nathaniel since we haven't gotten him one since we moved to our new house. If you aren't looking at a site that is supremely expensive (Land of Nod) then nearly everything is based on Dora or Toy's Story.

That's all well and good but Nathaniel doesn't watch TV all that much. The only time he actively watches TV is when he's laying down with me to take a nap. He's just not interested in TV. Anything else of sites like Babies r Us is just plain brown or white if they aren't Cars or Dora or something like that.

Not to mention, I don't like buying a lot of stuff for Nathaniel based on TV shows because I don't like the look. That's just my taste though. I probably would buy more of that stuff if he actually watched TV.

What about you guys? Do you think furniture (or kid's stuff in general) is over commercialized? Or do you like decorating with your kids favorite shows/movies?

I hate the commercialized stuff. I wanted to buy my son a little table and chairs for Christmas and the only ones that were reasonably priced were all like that. I don't really buy him anything like that, it just bugs me for some reason, I guess I am just like you and it's just not really my style. The only things I really like to buy are Curious George stuff because he really does LOVE that show but trying to find CG stuff is nearly impossible anyway.

I hate all the Cars, Dora and Diego, Toy Story, etc. It just looks so cheap and all the ones I've felt in the store FEEL so cheap and are made in China. It's just awful! I've given in with some of the Disney princess stuff because although I don't like that look either, Layla LOVES the princesses even though she hasn't really seen the movies. I really love simple designs with earthy tones generally. Well-made, high quality fabrics. I do love ducky designs and raggedy ann but it has to look at least somewhat handmade for me to fall in love with it. =)

The only show that Nathaniel has ever really shown any interest in has been Tom and Jerry lol I know what you mean about not being able to find stuff.
