Who here is finished having children? Did either of you get "fixed"? How was the experience?

(My DH is looking into getting vasectomy so I'm curious to hear about those experiences specifically.)

I got the Mirena - it was not a big deal. DH got snipped about a week after Julia was born. I was in there with him and it was not a big deal at all. They numbed it up, did a small incision and did the tube from each side. He said the incision site was sore for a while but nothing major. He had it done on a Thursday afternoon and he was back to work on Monday - and he has a very physical job.

And if DH is nervous - tell him that nothing at all has changed in our sex life! Except maybe now we are more carefree since we now we can't get pregnant!

We are done having kids. DH is getting a V when Bella is a year old (we want to be SUPER sure we're done hehe)

Oh and to add, my husband is the kind of guy that DOESN'T do doctors or needles or ANYTHING of the sort. But the thought of having another kid is more scary to him then getting a V! If he didn't want to do it, I'd just let him know that he wouldn't be getting any lovin from me then!

This was our last baby and I had a planned c-section so I went ahead and got my tubes tied since the doc was in there anyway. If I went v-bac I wouldn't have done it and probably be on some type of BC because there is NO WAY DH would have gone through with the V. He almost passes out with shots/blood draw. Guys are wimps! lol

My DH is fixed and it was super easy. He had it done on Wednesday afternoon and was back to work on Saturday. Gave him a couple of happy pills, numbed his balls and tada they were done in about 2 hours. He was sore for a couple of days and bruised for a week.

I had my tubes tied in January. I wish I was 5 years younger as honestly I wanted 1 more but I had to be smart and listen to my body. It was an easy procedure and I was up and back to almost normal in a few days. The tube they put down my throat with the anesthesia caused me pain for almost 2 weeks and I lost my voice. (this is rare though). Sex is definitely carefree and fun again for us though!

I would wait Chesire, I know you have tossed around the idea of maybe wanting another down the road.... and you are still young enough where you can! (or have you changed your mind)
