Do you have real or fake? Which do you prefer? How is yours set up to keep it away from the little one?

We have a real Christmas tree.

We set it up and have presents under it and just teach the babies to be nice to it. We haven't had problems with any of our kids ever trying to do anything to the tree,ornaments,presents to be honest.

Ours is fake. It's just easier for us. Surprisingly Piper doesn't bother it at all.

Lily is one of those babies who wants to investigate everything. Anything paper is completely irresistible, so we have to keep Christmas trees blocked off when we are visiting family. She is very like I was at that age. Very curious.

We do real every year. Usually we go to a local tree farm and cut one down ourselves. That didn't happen this year with the weather and DH's schedule so we got a real one from lowes.

We put it in the dining room kinda behind the table. Carter could get to it but he never really messed with it. I was very surprised. I thought it was going to be impossible to keep him away from it

We use a fake tree.
I put all non breakable ornaments on the bottom half of the tree. Did not put out presents until a few days before.

We did fake this year... we usually do real, but I didn't want to deal w/ the mess this year. Emma did very well with the tree, I told her NO when she got near it to mess w/ ornaments. We didn't have to gate it off at all. I put some presents under the tree about a week before christmas and they didn't get messed w/ either.
