Have your eating habits improved or gone south since you found you were pregnant?

At first they improved, about week 8 they went south and all I could keep down was french fries, and now at week 13 the morning sickness is gone and I am back to healthy eating.

I'm by no means a calorie counter - I eat when I'm hungry every time I'm hungry! But I started using that BabyFit food tracker and realized I'm only eating about 1300 calories a day. Which truly is about 300 more than I was eating before pregnancy... so I guess its ok. I am gaining weight steadily and eat at least 5 times a day.

Mine big time went south :/ You need to be eating more than that girlie! :O 1000 calories a day?? That’s wayy below the recommended daily amount no matter how little you are! I’m eating less than I usually do and worse than I usually do :/ Still trying to get rid of food aversions. Only just recently have I been able to start eating fruits and veggies again... but I’m not counting calories.. I just know that usually i eat ALOT more than I have been.

I am not counting calories, but I do try to eat a substantial amount of fruit and vegetables every day. Does this mean I never eat ice cream or chips? No! I definitely eat those, too. But if I go out to eat, I try to get a salad or something light rather than going crazy and blaming it on eating for two. I did that with my first pregnancy and I was miserable the last trimester! I'm trying to temper my weight gain some with this one. Water aerobics are helping, too.

I'm still dealing with food aversions but its slowly getting better. I am trying not to go too nuts with food, but i tend to eat whatever sounds good. I'm prob eating the same amount as i was before i got pg.
Once the aversions are totally gone, i want to go back to how i was eating before i got pg. i ate really well.

i know it is but for some reason it's all i need to maintain my weight if i'm not working out! and i'm not tiny by any means! i'm a healthy size 8 ... i've always been that way. if i'm working out i can eat like a man and maintain, but if i stop working out healthy low-cal foods fill me up and keep my weight the same.

example - yesterday:

bfast 9am
1 sliced whole wheat toast w/butter
glass of OJ
2 pieces of turkey bacon

meal #2 11am
huge salad with croutons
applesauce

lunch 2pm
BLT sandwhich (100 cal whole wheat roll, turkey bacon, spinach, tomato, cheese)

dinner 8pm
mixed veggies
applesauce
baked potato
turkey burger (homemade)

... i mean... how am i supposed to be hungry after all that?! lol and that's only 1200 calories

I am defiantly eating more. I haven't tracked my calories yet but I get sick still if I don't eat every 2 hours. Some days I do really good and eat super healthy then other days I eat awful but at least I'm eating now!

Heatherbug - I get what you are saying but every single person no matter what absolutely must be eating 1200 calories just to live...trust me you are doing yourself a disservice by only eating 1000 calories pp. You are actually slowing your metabolism which in the long run isn't good and won't work out in your favor. Your diet sounds great, except you need way more protein!!! Every woman suffers from that and it's hard but protien is the most important part of your diet.

For me, I would say my diet is a bit worse than before. The main reason for that is right now I absolutely can't stand chicken which I ate on a daily basis so now I'm eating much more eggs to make up for the loss of that protein. But I have given in plenty times to some pasta, chips and ice cream so for that I'm not happy with myself. I just last night started looking for a healthier diet I can hopefully follow. I'm shooting for between 1800-2000 calories. I may count at first then just go with the flow. I won't starve myself for sure. If I'm hungry I will eat even if I go over my calories, but I will just make sure the food I put in my mouth is healthy. I gained 46lbs on my small 5'2" frame last time and I hated it and now I know how hard it was to lose it so I'm trying super hard this time to not go there. If I still end up gaining that much with eating healthy then so be it. At least I did everything I could. Your body will gain what it needs to that's for sure!

I have been trying to eat healthy. I went on vacation and gained a few pounds, but now that I'm back home and exercising again I lost two of the 4 pounds I gained. I think I normally eat too many calories so I've just stuck with what I was eating. I'll eat some nuts or a light cheese stick if I get hungry in between meals but so far I haven't added too much to my regular meals.

I'm a lot like you. I only eat when I'm hungry - I probably don't get enough calories per day either. I should probably start picking that amount up.

Lately I've just been eating what I can stomach, which 50% of the time isn't healthy.

i lost 55llbs over the last year going down to a 2000 calorie diet. I was eating close to a 7000 diet. More like drinking it I eat whenever im hungry but im not very hungry anymore. Im starting to wonder if i am getting that 2000 calories so I am going to start counting. I havent gained any weight at all and I cant imagine how that is even possible with all the food i ate the 1st trimester. Its too hot outside now i dont feel like eating.

Not to beat you up or get on your case, but I agree that eating 1000 calories is below the required minimum; under 1200 is considered starving so your body doesn't process food properly and that's probably why you gain weight when you eat more. I bet when you're not PG, if you played around with eating more, you'd see you're actually loosing weight once your body gets out of starvation mode and your metabolism gets back up. I would check with your doctor about how many you should be eating during your pregnancy.

For me, I've been eating WAYYYY worse. I am fairly thin and never count calories. I generally eat pretty healthy and I eat what I want, so if I'm craving junk I have it, but generally I eat healthy. With my MS so badly, I just ate whatever I felt like eating that would stay down, so mostly greasy food, drinking soda (to calm tummy), etc. Right now, I'm getting back to a more balanced diet and I am tracking my food intake on babyfit as well. It's helpful in letting me know if I'm over/under calories and, even better, lets me know if I'm getting enough protien, going crazy on carbs, etc. I really like that aspect because it's helping me eat more protein.

I have not kept track of calories or anything like that but I have never been that type of person to do so. I only eat when I am hungry and I eat small. I will have a snack inbetween meals if I feel hungry and I have had NO sickness at all and I lost 7 pounds and the Dr said everything looks perfect so I think I am ok!
