ive got a really itchy left palm, i never thought nothing of it, till my 28week appointment last wed. when i mentioned it, she took me really seriously and took extra bloods to rule out obstetric liver choleostasis (sp?)! she did say it could be just dermatitis, but ive googled the liver choleostasis and read the horror stories! does anyone have any past experience with this?

*UPDATE*
just received the results of my blood tests. im a bit anaemic, but my itchy palm is just a bit of dermatitis, yay!!! its been a stressfull and worrying week, glad it now over and i can enjoy the next ten weeks before baby boy makes an appearance! thanks girls for the support

its when the liver cant handle the extra oestrogen produced during pregnancy, this causes a build up of bile. not really harmful to the mother, but can be very dangerous for baby and even cause stillbirth if untreated. however, none of the things ive read says how its treated!

so, im praying its just dermatitis!

Dont google! it just freaks you out, no point in stressing until you have it then your doctor will explain it to you.

Please KUP!

I had it a few times where my palm is itchy. I just always hope the same thing! That Im coming into money lol.

and Megan everyone googles. yes it probably isnt always the best thing to do, but we all do it. I googled my cheek pain accompanied by my severe headache, and what I found said it could be a sinus infection... funny cuz just last week my son was on antibiotics for a SINUS infection. Google can be evil, but sometimes its helpful to know what you may be getting into. Please just do me a favor and let us do what we do and comfort us when we ask for it.
