A few ppl on here have said they scheduled a private ultrasound. I am wondering about this. Is it covered by insurance? Did you go to your ob or a different facility? I am pretty curious... and impatient as well

We do not have any around here, but I would not think that it is covered by your insurance. I could be wrong though.

Most are not covered as they are elective u/s.

^^^ Correct, since it is elective, you pay out of pocket for them.

if you are going in for a private u/s that is a private business not a medical facility. they dont take insurance. You are paying for the u/s to see the baby and to find out the gender. They dont do any sort of medical measurements or anything, its just for fun. They usually have high quality u/s machines so you can see things better, sometimes they give you a CD with video as well.

It depends on the place and what they offer. Here I only found 2 places and they both do 3/d and its 100$ for a 20-30 minute session.

I know my old OB said they would do just a gender scan for $100. That was a few years ago though.

I paid $80 for mine and that included a ton of pictures, a cd with all the pictures and a dvd. It was a business that does 3d u/s for fun, no measurements or anything diagnostic.

What should I google for this? If I dont get an u/s at my 16 week apt, DH and I decided we'd spring for a private one.

Try asking your OB if they can recommend a place in your area.
My OB's office offers elective ultrasounds as well as 3D ultrasounds in office.

We did one last time and will do it again this time. I can't remember which package we went with but it was a video and DH wrote a song for Dylan that we brought and they burned right onto the CD

I just booked a gender only u/sfor $50. The 30 min. 3D/4D session is $150. Depending on the place they go as high as $75 for gender and $200 for a single 4D session around here. You might Google 4D ultrasound to find facilities in your area (that's what I did). Good luck!

The one we have close to us ( which is over an hour lol) is over $100 for a gender and they won't do it until 20 weeks! I threw that idea out the window. They are neat later in the pregnancy when you can get 3d images that look better. I may think of doing one then.

I just got the 2d gender ultrasound for $50. It lasted about 10 minutes, but it didn't feel rushed at all. The tech was great about telling us what we were looking at, and she took measurements of the head and femur for us. I'll be going back at around 28-30 weeks for my 4d.
