I had my 3hr test this morning. Didn't know it really takes 4hrs. So I get there finally get called and the trouble began. It took half an hour and 3 techs to get the first blood draw. Then I started getting sick and then the heartburn came.... By the time I got home I sweaty, really tired and dizzy. Is this how its supposed to be??

Yes that is how mine was with my son. I was so sick from it I couldn't go to work later that day. They also could only get blood in one vein so I got stuck 4 times in the same spot.
Sorry it was a crappy morning. At least now it's done and out of the way. Prayers for negative results.

Ive never experienced the 3 hr text but the 1 hr was just as bad for me. They have a hard time finding my vein every time so I always get stuck several times. I took the 1 hr twice once early in pregnancy like 8 weeks or so, and one at 24 so I learned to bring a snack the second time because I was so hungry when it was over. Im sorry you had such a miserable time. I hope the results are worth the hassle.

Yes! With Max i was fine when i left the lab and drove to the mall to meet a friend about 15 minutes away. I got really, really sick while i was driving and barely made it to a parking spot before fainting in the car. I was so miserable and couldn't eat enough food to get my blood sugar back up. It was a nightmare and since i'd been fine during the 1 hour i didn't expect it at all. Waiting for the test results from Tuesday's test and praying i don't have to take the 3 hour this time.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with hard to find veins.^^that's how I felt , like I just couldn't eat enough. Then sleep took over. Honestly this is on my not even for my enemy list!!

That just stinks!! I don't remember feeling that sick when I took the 3 hour with my dd and I failed it. I hope you pass!

I just had finger pricks. So the vein thing wasn't an issue. I didn't get sick this time, but with my first I got nauseous. At the end of this one, my blood sugar was actually low. I pretty much crashed. Which made me feel shaky, sweaty, crazy, awful. I ate and was fine.

Just found out i failed the 1 hour test (169) and have to take the 3 hour test on Monday - my birthday. This totally sucks. I wanted to take it tomorrow morning so i could enjoy all the halloween festivities, and my birthday weekend, and then of course get the results Tuesday and deal with whatever it is.

I've been reading that you should carb load before the 3 hour test - anyone know why? Seems counterintuitive to me.
