Help me out! You can see from my siggie our other children have K names, so I would like to stick to that theme, even though it was't intentional at first. So taking that into consideration which name do you prefer?
I must say, I prefer the traditional spelling- Caroline. But I understand the desire to keep the 'K' thing going. Actually, I like Karoline more than Karaline- I think the 'a' instead of 'o' bugs me more than the 'K' instead of 'C'...

I also prefer Caroline as the spelling but understand wanting to keep the K thing going. To give you an unsolicited new idea (that you can feel free to ignore), but how about something like Karalyn? I have a childhood friend - we called her Kari as she grew up, but i thought the unique spelling worked a bit better than Karaline.
In order of my preference it would be Caroline, Karaline, Karalyn, and then Karoline. I would use Karaline in your instance where you are wanting to stick with the K so that is what I voted for. I agree that Karoline reminds me of Karo syrup.
I get such mixed feelings on the spelling. In a vaccum I prefer Caroline. But since its so "easy" to change that to a K I feel like I should so this baby isn't the odd guy out. If I had liked a name that wasn't at all hard C or K related I wouldn't stress about the K thing as much. I would just name my child the name I feel in love with and not worry about the theme.
Some people love Karaline and others totally hate it. I'm not a huge fan of messing with traditional spellings, but I think because Kara is an actualy name on its own for some reason this isn't bothering me as much. (Or maybe because I have tried out EVERY.OTHER.K.NAME. under the sun and can't settle on one!!) I don't like Lyn or Lynn at the end because it changes the pronunciation and Lyn endings sounds country to me (I think of Jaime Lynn Spears *gag*). My husband isn't really fond of the spelling either, he likes Caroline. But its the only name we are agreeing on so maybe I can get him to bend on the spelling. Ugh... why is this so hard?? We never had a problem with names before!
I like the Kara justification...makes sense!! Go with your feeling on this and screw anyone else lol. I spell Elisabeth with the s instead of the Z, my sister Jamae is pronounced Jamie. Spell the name how YOU like it!
I picked Karaline just because of the K name theme, but I don't like the a.
