I am just wondering who else is experiencing menstral cramping? Usually i have only been noticing BH when I get contractions which are sometimes painful and sometime not. But the pain I usually have with BH is not really like menstral cramping. I remember i started to periodically get menstral cramping with DD at around 35 weeks and then had her at 38 weeks. I also remember that when I was on labor with DD I did not realize that the period like cramping I was feeling was really my labor contractions. And in fact they didn't really bother me much until I was 4-5 cm. So I kind of feel like these kinds of pains keep me on higher alert than the BH. Well today i have been having on and off menstral cramping, but not much noticeable tightening. Just wondering who all has been getting the period like cramping and when did it start for you? If it gets worse later on I may call my doc. In the meantime just looking for some feedback. THanks so much! And before the helpful suggestions start coming in, don't worry the water have been on tap and resting mode is in full effect.
All of this stuff can mean absolutely nothing and can be normal. OR it can mean something. But no matter what is going on, real labor can not be stopped and with the pattern of what your body seems to be doing I dont think you are going to go from a 2-10. You will probably contract and cramp for the remainder of this pregnancy and there is no way of telling when the kid will come. Statistically, that kind of dilation does not tend to cause preterm births. Its just slow dilation over time. And you can walk around for weeks at each cm. You are going to drive yourself insane questioning everything to this extent.
I've had a lot of this lately, and it was at its worst last night. After we got home from Justins Christmas program, I started having bh (of course, this is usually when they start up, after 8pm lol), but then they started to hurt, so I went and laid down. They turned into full blown cramps with every contraction, and all I could think was "please not tonight, I'm so friggin' exhausted" lol. It was like having a bad cramp that went all the way around to my back. Obviously it was nothing because there's no baby lol They stopped after about an hour

Well, your're right about me driving myself crazy. I guess I just want to be sure that the baby is not in immediate risk of preterm labor. And there is really no way to know unless I start having in your face pain that causes me to know for sure. But, I guess that until I get a little further along, it does make me worry a little. And, yes I have experienced pregnancy and childbirth before. But everything is happening earlier this time around. Which I guess I have heard is normal. But, I just want to compare what I experience to what others may be experiencing to give myself more of a frame of reference. I think it would give me more comfort to hear form other who are further along that they have been feeling this too and have not gone into labor. And obviously not many of us have gone into labor yet, so I want to know if anyone else is going through the same thing.

Thanks for sharing! Hey at least if yours turns into something, you are 37 weeks tomorrow! YAY! Glad you were able to get some rest instead on going into labor last night since you were so exhausted.
I know, I'm excited I'm glad to not have to worry as much. If I would have had to go in last night, they would not have liked me lol. I was tired AND in pain, so I know I would have been a ***** lol
shes been laboring this kid for weeks. She needs to evict him soon. We are going to take a cervical poll guess for her appointment next week. I take dibs on 3cm!
and you are a ***** when you are not tired and in pain... i would have been afraid to see you last night I WIN! Naptime now lmao
I treat menstrual like cramps the same as any other contraction or pain during pregnancy. I drink water and lay down and see if they feel better. If they don't I try to crap, sometimes the menstrual like cramps are because you need to pee or poop.
Of course I don't seem so totally freaked out by it either. Sometimes I think too much knowledge makes people a little hyper-vigilant. When I walk I get some major cramping and I keep going, I have been doing that since the beginning, still no baby. From what I have read on the board in general lot of other women would have been running to L&D thinking something was wrong.

When I went into L&D it was because I had menstrual like cramps that had been ongoing for hours. Drinking water, resting, warm bath, all of that was being done and it was not getting any better. Turns out, I was indeed contracting, but they were doing absolutely nothing to my cervix. It was all due to being slightly dehydrated and overdoing myself. Since then I drink extra water and don't push myself to do anything and I've been doing great.
At this point, I think the best you can do is what we've been saying. Stay really well hydrated, stay off of your feet (no more shopping!) and take it easy. Again, we are all going to experience aches, pains and cramping at this point, so it's important to take care of yourself properly so that you know what's normal and what's not when things start happening.

Good point to treat them like other contractions and such. they have died down now with more rest and water so I guess It's just all this stuff evolving as I get further along. I know I am seriously over-analyzing everything. But, I guess I'm just a worry wart in general. I will feel so much better when I am nearer to term and know that if it happens, I can just let it happen and it is all good. It is noce to talk to you all for now though and not rush off to L and D or call and be sent for every little thing. i'd rather you all listen to my whining if you don't mind too much!
I've had menstrual type cramping quite a bit over the last couple of weeks. It seems to happen pretty randomly for me, unlike the BH contractions which are usually (though not always) a result of dehydration or overexerting myself. From what my doctor has told me and all that I've read online, there's no sense in worrying unless it goes on for a long time (like several hours, not an hour) and worsens.
Yes, I have been experiencing some extremely mild menstrual like cramping. I'm not worried in the least.
Remember what your doctor said. The key to that formula he gave you is that labor pains will have more of a pattern to them, increase in intensity, etc.
Hey i know when i went to the l&d because i didnt know what to expect with the contractions i asked and they told me it would feel like menustral cramps but that they would get increasingly stronger... but i started having them about a week ago which I was 36 weeks then and i have them quite often but not nothing to make me worry but i will be praying for you and i hope you feel better and everything goes well for you and your baby im a first timer so i really dont know what to expect anyways but sending T&P's your way!!!

I've been pretty good about keeping hydrated usually 7-8 glasses a day and am home almost all the time. My poor one year old spends a lot of time on the couch with me watching tv. I feel so bad she has to have an out of commission mommy for now. But hubby says she can take one for the team too. but, being that I am the only one home with her I do have to get up to do necessary mommy stuff with her. And occasionally I do get out to the store when I can get help with DD. But I never feel like I am pushing myself too hard. Anyways I am playing it by doctors orders of increased rest and water, which is the most you really can expect from a stay home mommy of a toddler. I am not on bed rest and would sure hate to be either at home or in the hospital. Anyways, I'm sorry if I sound a little defensive but I do in fact think I am taking proper care of myself given doctors orders. And believe me I do sense the bluntness behind some posts. And to tell you the truth I really don't appreciate it. I came on here asking for related experiences which you did in fact provide me but I really don't need you to be so judgemental of me. I'm seriously thinking I may just keep off of here actually because of the extent to which I feel I am being judged.

You are fine!
Yes thank you. I know, I guess up until today I wasn't even considering the cramps since I hadn't felt much of that yet. But thanks for sharing. And see you're a first timer and not even worried! i need to glean some of your confidence!

Thanks, mine has been on and off through out the day today, but not really getting any worse or anything. And I had them for like 3 weeks before they turned into labor with DD so I'm hoping it will just stay like this for several more weeks like it did with her.

You are so sweet! Thank you so much!
I am not being judgmental, but quite honestly, you are on here every other day asking the same exact thing. And the answer is never, ever going to change. The same people have answered you repeatedly on this and given you all the advice we have to give, yet you keep asking again and again. So what do you expect? It's quite frustrating when you know that a person isn't taking the really great advice they have been given, because if they were, this would not be an every other day post. I understand being worried and wanting to be reassured, but the only way you are going to get through is to do what we've already said. Asking the same question 20 different ways is not going to result in a new miracle answer for you. I'm sorry, but it's just not. Best of luck to you.
Everything bascially happens sooner when you are in subsequent pregnancies. It doesn't mean the baby will come any earlier. Sometimes it just means you notice it sooner.
I do think you are being hyper vigilant though and really over analyzing stuff. I think maybe some of the attitude you are picking up from other members is because you basically post the same question almost once a day and sometimes more than once. You get the same advice each time and then the doctor confirms that advice on the phone. You know what to do. I am not saying not to share it, but maybe wording it differently. Instead of asking a 'what should I do' type question, just complain about it.
Something like this, "Darn those contractions AGAIN! Every time I think I can do a little more they come back, had to drink a ton of water and rest to make sure it wasn't labor. Thankfully they quit after a few hours!!"
