What are some thing syou have read or plan on reading during your pregnancy?



I want to get Creating You Birth Plan by Marsden Wagner this time.

I will probably skim through Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way as a refresher.

I also like Birthing From Within by Pam England, although it is a really 'earthy birthy' book, so some may be a little weirded out by it.

My I want to read list is:

THe Thinking Owman's Guide to Better Birth by Henci Goer

Ina May's Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin

I will go through my Bradley book once I'm in the 2nd tri to refresh as well.
I have read Belly Laughs and it was really good, nice and light hearted.
Each week we read the What to Expect book as well. Not sure what else I will read.

Not sure what I'll read. Last time i read a bunch of multiples books along with:
Pushed The Painful Truth About Childbirth and Modern Maternity Care by Jennifer Block
Ina May's Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskins
Hypnobirthing: The Mongan Method by Marie Mongan

I honestly don't remember how Pushed was, I think I got a little annoyed with it by the end, but it had some good info. I remember the other 2 as being great.

I read Pushed. I thought it was good, but gets bogged down a bit.

I really recommend reading a book on breastfeeding BEFORE baby is born. Also, try to find all the resources in your area ahead of time. It is always better to be armed with as much info and resources as possible when going into something so important. Don't just "wing it!"

I really need to read to feel capable and confident. The more I read the better birth I feel I have. So I am open to any and all suggestions! I am overcoming Big Baby fear after my 12 pound delivery with Owen so I NEEEEED help this time. Big time.

Hey I like you guys! You put all my fav books on there! I was dreading the "what to expect" list on here!

My contributions are... well for now (I need to peruse my stack and come back) my one contribution is:

Pregnancy, Childbirth and the Newborn by Simkin, Whalley and Keppler

Oh... I just have to add I just bought Ina May's NEW book, "Birth Matters". And she autographed it! Woo hoo! I have to admit I got a little star struck.

It was pretty cool. She was in Seattle close to a week doing grand rounds at our big university hospital and participated in the MAWS (Midwives Association of Washington) annual meeting. Then her last day was open to the public where she did another talk and did a book signing. Ya know, she didn't say anything totally profound that I didn't already know or read in one of her other books, but it was cool just listening to her. Her husband was there too, so that was kind of neat.

Oh, I like hte title of that "Birth Matters" I am totally going to have to get my hands on that one!!!!
