I do and my birth plan is complete! Thoughts on a water birth? I am very excited to bring my baby into this world this way.

I would love to have one but the hospital I have to deliver at doesn't have this as an option. The rooms are nice but it's not available.

Ahh I wish more hospitals embraced it. I think its gonna be the best option for me. I am not going near a hospital for my birth. We have a birthing center 10 minutes up the road and the birthing tub suite is amazing. You should see if you could rent a birthing pool and use it at the hospital.

It doesn't appeal to me personally. I had thought about it when pregnant with number one, but then after watching videos of it all unfolding in a water bath, it turned me right off. When I went into labour with DD it would have been the last thing I wanted to do. I was like "I want the epidural now!" Then I lay down on the bed looking out at the beautiful day and was in pain free bliss.

Good for you for wanting to try it. I'm sure there will be other mummies who have had great experiences with it, just not for me.

Yeah my husband doesnt want to get in the tub and sit with me in all the baby juices. Lol. But this will be my first option unless I really need medicine. I know every woman is different.

it has been my dream for years. i have natural births, and i believe it's be a big help. however, i have medicaid and for liability crap, they won't cover home births but, tax time is shortly after the little guy's january birth, sooooo, hmmmmmm. my mom is very confident and open to a home birth and helping deliver her grandchild.
so yes, on the water births, i think it would feel magnificent. though, in my first labour, as fast (contractions began at 2 minute intervals, and quickly went to 90 seconds apart. they say go in at 5 minutes, but being a firsttime mom, i didn't know. thankfully, in pain, y my husband threw me into the car for the7 mile drive to the local hospital, and i barely got into a bed before i pushed my son into the world. not that's a labour, lol)

are you planning for a home birth as well, hon? in any event, keep us posted. unique birth stories, are even more fin! excuse any typoes here on out, i am tired as fick.

We live in a apt complex so it will be at the only birthing center in GA state in the birthing tub suite. My mom is going to fly down and I want my husband and my mom to be very involved as to help deliver baby, cut the cord, and catch and touch our little honey nut before anyone else. I just want a very intimate moment and so many people I have talked to in person that have kids just laugh at me and say good luck and you will want the epidural....I am a woman and we are strong.

When my cousin delivered at the same hospital I will, they didn't even want her bringing in a ball to bounce on. She did anyways but they barely let her out of the bed. I was pissed and this will NOT be happening to me. I want to walk around. So, I know they will not allow a birthing tub.

My last two were water births and I loved it! I rent a tub from my midwife and it's heated and has jets. It was so wonderful to labor and birth in. With my water births I had no tearing or need for stitching but did with my others so I think the water helped a lot.

sounds amazing and i bet you will enjoy it
i have thought about it but not something that i see myself doing
i have had pretty easy natural labors and hopefully this one goes the same way ( less then 4 hours in labor again will be awesome )

I have thought about it because I know that when I'm not feeling good and I am in pain taking a bath helps. But I don't like the idea of being in the water with all the baby juices, etc. My cousin had all 3 of her kids in the water and loved it and says it was the best way. I just don't think it is for me. With DD I was in labor for 3 1/2 hours and had no meds, no tearing or episiotomy so I think I'll do fine with this one too.

I want a water birth too! Since I live in Delaware, which is a super small state, the only place that offers water births is a little birth center 45 mins away. I called them and they said women drive from even further away, so I should be fine to go there (I'm switching to them after the 20 week anatomy scan). Like you, I don't enjoy the idea at all of being stuck in a hospital bed, so a natural birth is something I am hoping to achieve and water is supposed to be a natural pain reliever. Have you seen the documentary The Business of Being Born? It's great and discusses water births.

I like the idea of a water birth, but I am too scared to have a baby at home. We don't have any birthing centers nearby that offer water births, so to the hspital I go!

I would LOVE one, but I will have to wait and see if my placenta corrects itself before I decide on that. I have a huge garden tub in my room that I plan to use if I get to stay home. We have no birthing centers here. The hospital does have tubs but you can't actually have baby in there and plus they probably wouldn't let me because even though I already had a VBA2C and hopefully this will be another one, they don't allow VBAC patients in the water.

I thought I wanted one with DS but the hospital didn't offer it and there weren't any birth centers in the area so I delivered him the at a hospital but still went pain med free. Looking back, I don't know if it would have helped. I ended up laboring in bed (my choice) and was pretty focused and relaxed so who knows.

I'm glad you're getting what you want though, that's great!

I would like to also, but it's not an option. Where I am, there are no midwives, no birthing centers (illegal throughout the state) nothing at all except the hospital with an MD. I'm not happy about it, but I'm trying to make the best of it.

Me! Water birth def appeals to me and would be what I want, I know that each birth is different and you have to 'go with the flow' but I am hoping for an un-complicated home water birth...... I would consider a birth center, but the closest one is 41/2 hrs away and since my Mom's first and only was a 3 hr start to finish labor I figured this was Not a good idea for me! I'm really hoping to take after my mom anyway!

But plans may have to change if I can't get a midwife.... 12 weeks and still looking.... I live in a small town.

I would love one. I should have my first mw appointment this week hopefully. If I go with her the plan will be a home birth. Dh still isn't 100% on board with it though.

Personally, I do not like the idea of a water birth for myself. But more power to all mommas going for water/home births!!
