40 weeks today, went to dr yesterday and it seems cervix is higher than last time he checked me 2 weeks ago with nothing happening!! I thought it was a bad sign that I was having pubic bone pain that all but went away this week, but had a ton of BH on Monday so thought I might be getting somewhere... Dr says this could change at anytime and i could go into labor today, but i thought that for FTM baby was suppose to drop down weeks before?? he's willing to have me come in mon to give me a cervical ripening drug,( didn't say what kind) then get induced on Tuesday, roughly a week after due date, told him I would think about it if baby doesn't come by Monday's apt, I don't want to be induced though!! He says getting induced with 0 cervix activity like I am now would mean a 90% chance of csection, so I guess if my cervix is the same next week I shouldn't do it?
Oh boy! I hope it's one of those thing that just happens out of no where and fast. I'd be running through all the old wives tales trying to get things started. Even if the contractions don't start labor per se, maybe they will get your cervix going enough for you to be comfortable with an induction.
Talk about pelvic pain, I can hardly walk. I don't know if would be able to make it past week 40, cuz Im overly exhausted and I can't take the pelvic pain any longer, esp at night.
((hugs)) I'm sorry, I know no change in your cervix can be disheartening. I had zero progress at my last appointment too. But that is no indication of when you will start labor. And no, FTMs don't necessarily always drop weeks before the baby comes.
Since you asked, I will say if I were you I would not even consider induction until at least 42 weeks, so long as I was still healthy. There is no real reason to. FTMs go to, what, 41 weeks and 3 days on average I believe? What is another week or two in the big scheme of things? But that is just my own personal opinion. I try not to get all wrapped up in the idea of a due date, it is just an approximation. It isn't like a timer goes off on that day.
I feel for you. I go in today to be checked and I will probably still be closed. With all of my babies I was already opened to 2-3 cm by now. I can't help but feel like my body is not working. We were talking last week about maybe inducing, but if my body is not cooperating that can't happen.

I agree, I would not consider induction unless the baby is getting too big or you and/or baby are in danger. As discouraging as lack of cervix changes can be many women don't ripen prior to labor. Things honestly can change in a split second.
i am going to talk about induction tomorrow hopefully ill be more then 2cm like i was last week... per ultrasound which is always correct last week she was already 8 and half lbs.. Alyssa was a week early and was 9.1 i was hoping not to have another 9 lb baby
