I've been exclusively pumping for the past month since she's had all these issues going on.
And I'm now wanting to get her to nurse again.
Good grief it's hard!
She gets mad, screams, swats her arms, turns red in face, and is generally angry when I try to nurse.
So sad. Bla. Why me?!?

The best thing for nipple confusion is skin to skin. Get yourself a good LC!

There is a post somewhere on JM about the three day nursing hiatus, or something like that. Search for it! It has great info that would probably help you. It is probably stickied in the bfing forum.

I'd def talk to a LC first they will probably encourage you to try a nipple shield as it is a teaching tool for the babies.

I've got shields since that's how I got her to nurse before.
I actually just had a good 20 min nursing session with the shield.
I also removed it and she nursed on my nipple for about 5 min.

The only way I got her to nurse in the first place was to calm her with the pacifier and then pull it out and put the nipple in with the shield.
She thought it was the passy and started sucking.
I guess she realized milk was coming out and got happy. Kept on sucking.
She must be full because she's passed out on my bed. I guess I'll have to just trick her each time.

Another successful nursing session. It took some screaming and swatting again on her end but we are nursing.

Great to hear, you probably wont have to trick her EACH time just at first. Keep up the good work!

Haddy was like this the first week. We climaxed at the screaming for an hour then it got better. The LC I consulted with said it is normal but it was very frustrating to work through. Hopefully things continue to go well. We no longer have screamining.

She grabs my boob and scratches and it HURTS!!

Maybe put some mittens on her while your trying to nurse so she can't scratch you

I'm glad it's going so well for you! I bet once she gets used to nursing again you won't have to do the paci trick. Claire has always been a pain in the butt to nurse. She pops on and off, uses her hands to push my boob out of her mouth, gets her hands in the way of everything... You name it she does it. She is getting better tho. If she's being really uncooperative I put her in the swaddle me and then nursing her is so much easier. If you have a swaddle me or a big blanket to wrap her up in it may help.

Ok I don't get this.
I went to lay down with her tonight , prepared to nurse her to sleep with the shield.
I get in bed and prop her on the pillow.
The little stinker latches straight on to my boob and goes to town.
She's nursing for going on 20 min.
Popped off once and had a meltdown. Screamed a few minutes, refused the breast, sucked paci, then went back on with a PERFECT latch and is still going.
???!!!???
It's like she KNOWS exactly what to do but just has to fight it in the beginning.
I don't get it?

I'm not even believing it! She went back to sleep right after nursing at 5 am and it still asleep. It's almost 7.

She's NEVER slept 5 hours. Ever!!
And she's always right back up after 5 am feedings but not today!!
I'll be giddy as a school girl if this keeps up!
