We will also be introducing a new food each week from now on; veggies first and then maybe around 7 months, fruit. For right now, I don't think he really needs it in terms of nutrition, so I'm not going to feed him more than a few tbsp every day until he's at least 6 months old. I only started now because I'm off work for the summer, the doctor said I could, and it's a relaxed time for introducing something new.

This is pretty much the way to do it. It will definitely not be the major source of nutrition/calories for a while. So if a day comes that it seems like too much hassle, just skip it!
We will start soon--once my vacation starts. Jack is definitely interested. I was eating string cheese while nursing him and he stopped eating, started at me and then slowly grabbed for my cheese!
