Well as you all know i had pains monday and tuesday but by wednesday they had gone completley so i decided to take Hayley shopping for a few things, So we are walking around this sports shop and i can feel something trickling out of me so when we'd finished i go to the toilet and theres some green stuff on my pants which i thought was just discharge but we went home anyway and it stopped.
Around 6pm it started again so i phoned labour and delivery and they said to come in as it sounded like my waters had gone, so me and Rich go in and they took one look and realised that Alyssa had opened her bowels inside me and that my waters had broken.
I was put on the moniter and had a scan and her heartbeat was fine so they decided to put me on the drip to kickstart labour, i also had an internal and my cervix was closed and not favourable for labour (ouch ouch ouch @internal) so about 11pm i get the drip in and started getting mild contractions which i was laughing through! Ha little did i know , labour really HURTS!
An hour later and the pains are coming thick and fast and really hurting and i wouldnt have an epidural so i was doing it with just the gas and air!
At about 7am the pains were awful and with every contraction i had Alyssa's heartbeat was really really dropping and taking ages to recover and i was checked again and i was only dilated to 2cm so it was decided that Alyssa had had enough and that because of my scar tissue i should have a c section, i was sooo dissapointed, I'd laboured all night but i knew it was for the best.
Alyssa was born Thursday morning at 7.58 weighing just 4lbs 6oz..thats right she's tiny! Just 17 inches long!
It seems her placenta hadnt been doing its job hence why she's so little, She went straight to the SCBU (Special care baby unit) and was there till Friday afternoon which was torture as they dont have rooms for mummies there. As you all know i was really hoping to breastfeed her well i was pumping away and they were supplementing with formula and it just wasnt working, they were feeding her with a cup and a shringe to avoid nipple confusion but she was starving so i decided to let her have the bottle, I cried over that desicion but she's feeding like a champ so i know ive made the right choice though i still feel guilty.
On Saturday they told me as long as she hadnt lost more than10% of her birth weight and seeing as she was managing to hold up her temperature (she was struggling at first) and her blood sugar was ok, (she was having her heel pricked every few hours, poor little thing) then she could come home today!
Well they weighed her this morning and her weight was the same as when she was born, i was ecstatic!
Im doing ok, Im tired but happy to be home and relieved that she's ok, I love her so much, she's perfect!
Weve took lots and lots of pics which i'll upload soon, She looks just like her Daddy, lots of dark hair!
