My first pregnancy went pretty smooth (besides the HORRIBLE morning sickness the first trimesters) yet I was never prepared for my little big baby. I didn't really get big or gain lots of weight until I was 7 months. My nurse practitioner (didn't have an OB until delivery) estimated her birth weight in at 8 pounds. I was a large baby weighing it at almost 10 pounds when I was born, so I was relieved.
I go into labor on Thanksgiving and finally deliver my 11 lb. 15 ounce , 23 1/2 inch bundle over 24 hours later.
Of course we were the "talk" of the hospital and many came to see the big baby. I was proud of her. Still am. She was always bigger than the others, yet now, she falls within a "normal" range for her age. She is tall for her age but as was I.
I am use to the comments I get especially from family members. My SIL's boyfriend still talks about her like she is some sort of "freak" and asks her if she was a ribeye steak.
