Well let's just say I am sooooo happy!!! It all started on Sunday October 2nd. I was having contractions all day nothing major or painful or even with a noticable pattern...our daughter was like are you going to go for a walk and I was like yeah and she says well let's go pop this baby out!!! I was dying...I was in great spirits all day, but had no idea what was going on. I cooked dinner (spaghetti and garlic bread YUM!) and we ate around 7 pm. Around 8 pm our daughter was picked up to go home with mom and at about 8:11 pm I decided to see if there was actually a pattern to my conctractions. They were coming every 3 minutes...I was in absolutely no pain...so I monitored them for an hour called mom asked typical 1st time pregnant questions and she said to wait and see what happened. So we waited about another 30 minutes and my husband was becoming nervous and was like well let's take a ride to the hospital. I didn't want to go, I didn't think I was actually in labor. So I give in and we take the 10 minute ride to our hospital and get there go straight up to L & D and take to the nurse and joke with her and she's looking at me like "Yeah right sweetheart you are going back home" Anyway so they checked my cervix and I was 1.5 cm dialated and 60% effaced... I was so ready to just get in the car and go back home. So she says she will monitor me for an hour and she needs the baby to react to 2 of my contractions within 15 minutes...well we had one reaction and at that point I turned to look at the monitor and "Pop" my water broke...yup best place to be when your water breaks...laying in a hospital bed...I blamed it on my nurse all night long telling her that it was her fault my water broke since she checked me Well obviously at that point I was very thankful that my hubby took me to the hospital and he is sitting there all proud of himself I ended up haveing the contractions get a little harder, enough to where I couldn't sleep and the nurse gave me Stadol to help me rest...ugh that was the worst sleep I ever had...I still (obviously) haven't recovered from it...anyway at about 7 am the next morning the nurse from hell came in...ick I didn't like her, I guess the evening nurse spoiled me...we were picking on her all night and vice versa...the day nurse was really "matter of fact" and was commanding in her ways, personality conflict I'm sure...she ended up pulling thorugh during delivery but I just had a tough time adjusting to her attitude most of the way until then. Anyway I was told that my doctor ordered pitocin for my so I said I want the epidural first...this was at about 10:30 am and I still was not in pain and still was in good spirits, I wasn't about to ruin that with pain and fussiness towards my DH so I got it and the day was great a little anxious to get things together but I thought we were doing great. I ended up getting sick 3 times from the meds...remember my dinner from the night before...It wasn't yummy the second (or third or forth) time around...During the day my mom and and two sisters showed up...and had no intentions on leaving...my one sister was being very annoying (she was trying hard to help, but just wasn't) at one point when I was getting sick she took my puke pan away from me and I wasn't done I was like then I was trying to clean myself afterwards and she took my rag I just looked at her About 3 pm the nurse checked me and I was totally effaced and 8 cm. She called the doctor and she was just finishing surgery and said she would be up in 5 minutes. DH and I had planned on going through delivery alone...so I felt that it wasn't fair for them to just say they were staying, I got upset and started to cry...I had to kick them out of the room to make sure DH was ok with it and he was so as I'm trying to call my sisters and mom's cell phones to get them back in the room I'm starting to feel more pressure in my lower back...about the equivalent of someone shaking your hand, and cramps in my tummy, both only on my right side...very mild...in my left side...someone could have cut my leg off I wouldn't have known I couldn't even move it...Anyway my sisters and mom finally made it back and the doctor was right behind them...About 3:30pm my doctors checks and says I am a negative 2 station...I'm like I thought for sure he would be engaged...Anyway the way it worked for me here was she would tell me when to push (since i couldn't tell I was supposed to) and during the contraction she would count to 10 while I held my breath and pulled my legs (with the help of the nurse and DH, sisters were taking pictures and mom was standing at my head) Sooo the moment of truth I started to push with my poopie muscles and my doctor was like "no, no" I pooped a little...and then I pushed with my tummy muscles and in the first push ( even though I screwed it up) he was crowning...my sisters were like did you see I was like no I was looking at the back of my eyelids... My doctor started singing "I'm coming out, of the vagina now, I want the world to know..." and doing little bunny fufu in front of my vagina lips where the lights shined on me...in the next few minutes Sirus' head came out and so did his body...they put him right on my chest and he was blue...God I was scared...I looked at him and said "Hi I'm your mommy please breath..." with that he began to groan then cry and I was so happy...He weighed in at 8lbs and 9 oz and was 21 inches long, his head was 12.75 and his shoulders were 13.25...he is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen...there is a link in my siggie to the hospital site for him if you want to see a picture...He began to breast feed immediately and is doing great. He had to get get his bilirubin levels tested today and they came back as a 15 at 17 they admit him...it's raining here so there's no sunlight to put him in but he is feeding very frequently and getting rid of all the bilirubin in his stool my doctor said so we have to go back tomorrow...I'm sure he's fine just keep him in your thoughts and I will keep you guys posted...thanks for all the ELV's they definetly worked and I couldn't have asked for a better bunch of girls to share my 9 months with...Thanks so much...it's definetly been the experience of a lifetime and BTW Sarah (Writinghoosier) gave me a kidoppotamus Snuggle me blanket at our cyber shower...that has got to be the greatest invention ever!!! I am reading your story thinking, your doctor sounds a little goofy. That has got to be the most amusing birth story I have read in a long time. Sorry about the annoying sister problem, I have one of those (Teresa, if you read this, don't smack me). Hee, hee.
