Well, I was on here on Thursday night, the 6th asking about the mucus plus and heavy discharge and just trying to get info on what I was feeling. I got up and went to the bathroom and when I was washing my hands I felt this stream of something and my pants were soaked. So I sat back down on the toilet because I didn't know what was going on. I told my husband to get me the cordless phone and called my mom and told her that I thought my water had broken. I then called the hospital and they told me that I could come in now or wait to see if there would be more leakage. Since we live about 45 min. from the hospital we headed out at 10 p.m. that night. We had been there earlier in the day for a biophysical and NST and they told me that everything looked good and that I had to continue on bedrest until he came. I had been hoping that they were going to induce me that day because of my blood pressure, but I guess Brayden had other ideas.
We got to the hospital and they used the strip to see if it was amniotic fluid and nothing would show up. It wouldn't change. I was standing in the bathroom with it streaming down my leg and puddles on the floor and they were like - we aren't sure if your water broke. So they hooked me up and I stayed overnight, waiting for my doctor to come check it out in the morning. She showed up and they had to do a swab and another test to determine if it was amniotic fluid, which it came back positive.
So they started me on pitocin and nothing happened!! I was on it all day on Friday, all the way up to the max and I wasn't feeling hardly anything and there were no regular contractions. By Friday night they decided to get a second opinion and called a major hospital in a different town to ask if they could stop the pitocin that night and then start it up in the morning. They said that would be alright because I didn't have a fever and I had been on antibiotics all day. So on Saturday they started all over again and the same thing happened - nothing. I was 2 cm and 30% effaced the whole time.
At five o'clock I finally went in for a c-section (almost 48 hours after my water broke) and at 5:26 p.m. on October 8th, Brayden Willard Miller was born. He was 6 lbs. 13 oz. and 19 inches long. He is absolutely perfect!!!! There was no amniotic fluid left when they got into the uterus and he was still floating and his cord was wrapped around his neck, but he is doing just great. He was in the isolete for 2 nights because of the amniotic fluid situation, but we got home yesterday and everything is going great!!
Congrats on all the other new mommies and good luck to the ones who are soon to be!!
Congratulations on your son. I am sorry that you ended up having the csection. I know those are no fun to recover from. Thanks for posting your birth story and I can't wait to hear more about your newest addition!!
