I'm just wondering if anyone else did anything awesome to surprise their SO with the news... my hubby came home from work (he works 3rd shift) and I had made breakfast and put it in the oven to stay warm... I told him he should grab his breakfast and when he opened the oven door he found a hamburger bun.... he said "Why is this hamburger thing in the oven?" I said "It's actually a bun..." He said "ok... why is there a bun in the ov...... oh wow.... there's a bun in your oven?!?"

I just met Dh at work when he got off and told him. I had talked to him earlier that day and he was having a bad day so when I told him after work it cheered him up.

Nothing cute here. I just told him that I got a faint second line on the test.
I saw a really cute way of announcing it on Facebook the other day. A girl I went to high school with posted a picture of a hamburger bun in a toaster oven, with a timer next to it that said 11:18. Super cute.

My husband was out of town and I didn't want to tell him over the phone so I waited until he got home the next night. I made a photo montage video of our girls from birth to now and at the end was a picture of the pregnancy test and it said "Are you ready to do this again? Coming March 2012" He stared at it for a few minutes with a look of shock and finally asked if this was for real.
This is also how we told our parents and other close family.

Nothing special here. I had bought about 40 wondfo tests and since I'm nursing I began taking some occasionally here and there. I took one and there was a very faaaaaaint line. There was never a line ever before. I called Chris and he told me he couldn't see it so the next day I took another and the line was darker and he kind of grinned and said, "I still can't see it" but then he went out and bought me half a dozen more expensive tests, lol.

I took two tests one at 10 dpo and one at 9 dpo, both were postive, but dh didn't believe that I couldn't see a line, and he said he couldn't either. So I went and bought a digital. I was super nervous that it wouldn't be positive, so I was going to wait in the bathroom by myself so I could prepare myself for the bad news, but then I decided to sit next to him and watch it. We watched it turn together, from the spinning hour glass, to the pregnant. My previous two I tested alone and told him on the phone, and it just felt really specially to share the moment with him, even though it wasn't anything special.

I waited until DH was in the shower to test. Once he was, I ran in the bathroom and took the test. The positive line came up right away, so I left the test on his sink and jumped back in bed (with a huge grin on my face). He got out of the shower and went in to finish getting ready. I waited for what seemed like an hour for him to see the test - he finally came bursting out of the bathroom and stuttered "there are two lines, two, two lines on that thing, it says that means pregnant" - lol! He kept going back in and checking it, it was so cute! With out first, I wanted to do something special, but because we had had a m/c before, I just ran down and showed him the test - way too impatient I LOVE the way you told your SO!!

I did the same thing, OP! He did NOT catch on as quickly though. "Why is there a bun in the oven?" "Because you put it there, dear." "No I didn't." "Yes you did." "NO! I did not put this bun in the..... Are you trying to tell me you're pregnant?"
It was hilarious and this was the first pregnancy he didn't see coming. He's always told me I'm pregnant before I could even test!

oh my gosh! I love the bun in the oven stories! How cute. Mine was not as great. He had already left to Hawaii to meet his ship, and he won't be back until September, so I had to tell him over the phone. which stinks He was not expecting the call though because we had a negative blood test on Friday, when I re-tested on Monday (five times, lol) I got a BFP on the digital too! Anyways, I called him and said.."what are you doing? Nothing... guess what?....You are going to be a daddy!! He couldn't even believe it! He was ecstatic because this is his first baby. I told him, don't worry...I don't think 5 HPT...all different types and brands...are giving a false positive, haha.
