Are you moving solely to formula or breast milk? Perhaps your LO is weaning naturally? Or is he or she going onto cow's milk?
I have to admit that I think my supplementing days are over She is almost completely on cow's milk for her previous formula feeds (I've been mixing less and less formula with milk over a few weeks to get her used to the taste). She is still breastfeeding once or twice a day but definitely for comfort rather than for the milk.
I feel quite sad in a way - this is definitely the end of her baby days
We are almost totally off formula and only on breast milk. We had to supplement due to jaundice in the hospital and then at our one week check pediatrician was concerned that he wasn't gaining weight fast enough (even though he had regained his birth weight plus one ounce). He wanted us to continue to supplement after each breastfeeding with formula. However, AJ doesn't cooperate! We offer it to him most after most feedings and often times he doesn't want it or is sound asleep. We only supplement about 1-2 bottles of formula a day (between 2-4 oz each time).
He always has many pees and poos each day so I am not overly concerned about him gaining weight. We go back to the doc on the 22nd for his one month I will be interested to hear what he says about his weight then!
My DD just gets formula when I am at work, she BFs when we are together. Since she is almost a year old, once the formula we have is gone I will have her drink cow's milk at daycare and BF when at home.
