Do you think your LO gets more milk now that you are done with the shield? Kylan is completely weaned off the shield (finally!) and our feedings seem to go a lot quicker and he seems more satisfied after them. I don't know if it is because he is getting more milk now or just finally got the hang of nursing. Whatever it is I like it!! Also, the doctor wanted me to supplement 1oz of either pumped milk or formula after each feeding until his weight got up. I have not done this for a week now because he was spitting up a ton after the extra ounce. I felt like I was forcing him to eat more than he needed and then he would spit up. Hopefully he isn't needing the extra supplement because he is getting enough milk from me now!

Well, most babies spit up after eating so I wouldn't immediatley attribute the spit up to being too full. Mine spits up tons still at almost 6 months and he acts like he is starving quite a bit.
I also had to use a shield and ended up supplementing to help weight gain. I do think in my situation that DS did get more milk w/o the sheild. It seemed so bulky and I don't know how he could get as much suction with it, but I am no doctor and am not positive.
Look into using or buying a digital scale if you would like to check the weight gain. It put my mind at ease before I backed off the formula.
